Must admit, I can't see the point.
Can only be a 5 minute walk from where the EL1 terminates to where the 387 terminates.

I did the 387 to Creekmouth once and videoed the journey for posterity. Think that was the night I ended up in Romford at 05:30 off an N15. I had hoped to catch an N86 to Harold Wood, but at the time somebody had completely messed up the bus stop information in Romford - I think the bus stop posters showed incorrect letters and a diversion meant the eb N86s were departing from the opposite side of the road to the station, rather than outside it - only this was not clearly advertised at all - no clues whatsoever on the stop outside the station. So I watched the N86 come and go and decided to take the opportunity to go to Creekmouth instead. After doing the 247 to Barkingside then the 169 to Barking. The bus turned up at Barking over 20 minutes late owing traffic delays caused by an accident elsewhere on the route - I had to ask the driver of one of the normal 387s where the Creekmouth bus was. Leaving Barking Reach, there were still around half a dozen people on the bus - I don't know if there are usually more who gave up because of the delay, but most of them alighted at Atcost Road, deep into the dusty, brownfield industrial expanse that is Creekmouth. The area is desolate and lonely - in the 3 minute video below, I don't think much in the way human animation is shown, other than the cars whizzing by. After getting off the bus, the first thing I did was try and find out how to get out of the place - the timetable wasn't very promising at all and I'll wager the bird sh*t is probably still there. That said, one of the locals was quite friendly and warned there weren't any buses going for hours, so I should keep walking until I reached the part of River Road served by the normal 387. I've extremely little knowledge of the area but from what I can gather, the 387 has two peak journeys that go to Creekmouth and two that start from their and these journeys hardly have passengers. So, what improvement does extending a route that will operate far more than 2 journeys to & from Creekmouth give - surely it will carry around 1-2 people along the new section.

Err that's not the proposal. The plan is to send the EL1 just round the corner to the normal 387 terminus at Barking Reach. The peak hours bit to Creekmouth would go completely leaving the area without transport. Not sure how that sits with getting people to work and providing a comprehensive service. Barking Reach would effectively have a doubling of service and would gain a 24 hour route and a direct link to Ilford. |

The only reason they getting rid of the 387 from creekmouth is because it serves the now closed remploy factory. Hence why no one is using it. |

The only reason they getting rid of the 387 from creekmouth is because it serves the now closed remploy factory. Hence why no one is using it. That's fine but if no one is using it, then just withdraw those journeys and leave it without replacement - that's what I was saying above. |

At a time when TFL need to save money, is it really a good idea? The issue is that TfL are close to / have completed the extra works on East London Transit Phase 2. This section is over some of the 387's roads plus the bit between the EL1 and 387. Therefore they need to extend some of the EL buses to Barking Reach to deliver the project benefits. I suspect, but have not done a detailed check, that TfL intended to provide a greater level of service under the East London Transit project than will actually materialise. For example there is no enhancement to the 387 itself. It is worth noting that the extra costs of the extended EL1 will be covered by external funding so no extra cost to TfL at this time - this is mentioned in the consultation info. |

From my own experience, the stand at Bastable Avenue for the EL1 is not the safest place for buses to sit late at night. The extension would probably be beneficial to staff too.

The Stand currently at Bastable Ave will become residential parking for the new housing being built at present, so the extension will be the answer to where the EL1 can turn around...going to fun on Sunday Market days that is  |

Can't see there being any major issue here tbh. As soon as they get to the Thames View, they both run seperately anyway, similar to the 294/365 arrangement in Romford towards Havering Park.
