It was extremely difficult for me to choose a favourite route, I think I'll plump for route 50! *fanboy mode* My reasons for choosing this route are ; it's my local route, it has a host of amazing buses on it most days(DLA315, DLA339, DLA371, DW41, DW89, VLA157...), 50 is one of my favourite numbers, 2 parts of it's route are exclusive to it, it serves little residential roads as well as the main important roads (my favorite section is when it turns off St Helen's Road onto London Road, especially if it ends up in front of a 109! ), it's the fastest route from Croydon to Streatham (always overtakes the 109 & 250), it has great drivers, you are always guaranteed a seat on it, lots of thrashing...

The 113 does give you an experience of thrashing up the Watford Way on a E400 touching 50mph is quite fun. But other than that its fairly boring route.
My favourite route has got to be the 168, nice trip through the pleasentries of Belsize Park, but the best bit is the cross over Waterloo Bridge on a Summers day on the top deck with the cool breeze comming in from the river... come to think of it, its even better at night, all the land marks are lit and reflect off the water, its really quite a sight. The older Wright Gemini's are comfy enough too.

I'm just glad they don't like putting the Scanias on the 122! All the better for me Yes, definitely I'd go along with that too. Currently, the service which seems to be 'my route' (and thus adopting as favourite ) is the 177. I use this as my shopping bus (Thamesmead Town Centre is pretty handy with Iceland, Aldi and Morrisons next to each other, as well as Lidl on Eynsham Drive and Woolwich shops too), I use it to visit a mate in Greenwich quite a lot and I use it on my journey to/from work fairly frequently. I think the route is very logical, running down main corridors and linking a lot of useful places together. However, as touched on above, the downside is that a fair amount of Scanias get out on this route - I find them really uncomfortable. However there's still loads of Tridents out and about on the 177 so not all bad on that front...... Have soft spot for the 122 (I do one return trip on the entire route once a week for darts night in Croydon) and also the 99. My favourite bus type at the minute is the Stagecoach Tridents, particularly the 175## numbers. Also like Go-Ahead's PVL fleet and also prefer LDP type (In Go-Ahead money) Darts to more modern single deckers.

Mine would be the 131. I was born in Wimbledon the same year it replaced the trolleybuses so I've grown up with it. RMs with additional RTs from Merton on Saturdays, long days out to Hampton Court or Walton on Thames, school runs etc etc. At that time it was Mondays to Saturdays only - the Sunday service was the 155 between Clapham Common and Hersham (hard to believe now). Then DMS and M operation, Sunday service introduced from Clapham Common to West Molesey. It's had a varied life for what now seems a settled route. London Country and Westlink operation, then extension to Tooting. Over its life it's operated in various sections from places as far apart as Aldwych and Weybridge.

My favourite route is the 188 which I mostly use to go into the city and its very fast (especially those Hybrids) sometimes except the changeovers at Elephant & Castle which delay the route.

I don't think I have a favourite anymore.
In the past, my favourite was the 73 with its RMLs, RM5 during its limited peak hours run in the morning and afternoon (although when the engineer who looked after it was away it would come out until late or on weekends!)...I still feel the shock/pain of that first day (even though I knew it was coming and was on RM5 for the last trip) where they weren't there any longer....I think part of my enthusiasm for the buses died and its still not fully recovered

My favourite route was the 295 from BB, then SW. It was one of the few routes from Clapham Junction that went places outside central or south London, making it more interesting than the more local 239 and 344...or the short C3.
Loved the family of drivers as we worked well together, not saying that there wasn't any bunching and punching. We worked pretty well with the controllers as well, creating quite a good sense of teamwork. Got to know quite a few passengers along the route as Familiarity breeds conversation.
Was a bit sad when the route was scheduled for double deck conversion, as the Metrobuses were older and slower than those suped up DRL class Darts. However, quite a few of the Metrobuses were not that much slower as they were well maintained, especially the batch that we got from AF that were redundant from the 74 (then converted to NVs).
The route's performance wasn't quite as good when transferred to SW, especially as we lost that 'family of drivers' due to the closure of BB. That sense of teamwork seem to have been lost now that the route was in a 'bigger pond'. It was nevertheless still a good route from Stockwell, especially with the arrival of the X reg PDLs, which I always tried to grab for my second half on lates.
The route was always interesting in one way or another; Chelsea supporters getting on for Stamford Bridge home games, half naked gals trekking to the Hammersmith Palais. Colourfully dressed punters for the Notting Hill carnival, etc
The 295 was generally like marmite, one either love it or hated it, I was proud to be the former.

My Favourite route is the 188 because I have lived by it for more than 10 years and have also seen it using Volvo Citybuses and DLAs when it was with Arriva, then it going to London General from SW using PDLs. Then in 2005, the route being lost to Travel London from WL using Volvo B7TLs.
I am also a fan of route 247 from NS aswell, I love the way the Tridents go round the roundabout at Marks Gate then run along Whalebone Lane North (past Hainault Forest Golf Complex) and then over the hill towards Hainualt.

About 15 years ago it would have been the Route 102. When it was worked by MCW M's. Not sure now days.
As for modern types, Dennis Trident Alexander ALX400, any type by Wrightbus. Also Routemaster's, forever one of my favourites.
