Bendy buses (Well Coaches) returned to the 25 today Ensign showing how it should be done as normal. How what should be done? Running one on a one off basis like today is rather different. was just a joke about ensign running a better service than some operators

Why couldn't the 18 get extras? The 18 runs along the Bakerloo line and because of this tube strike you could hardly get on board the 18 because the buses are so packed.

As far as I'm aware, There was no controllers out for Ensign. It was a case of just run extras between a set time and try and keep to that as possible, Any problems pull over and call the garage as it's just not possible to keep track of everything with traffic as it was. And I think it went fairly well on the 25, Loads of happy passengers all saying how good it was It was a really united scene out there the past two days, All drivers talking to each other etc - As someone said on Twitter, It was like the spirit of the Blitz!!

A big wig from UNITE needs to get on the telly and tell people that the buses all ran and that the buses always run, no excuses from buses, IE, leaves on the line, points failure, etc etc.
The buses always run, and yet we are the poor relations to tube drivers when it comes to pay...................

In the meantime, there were near empty extras running. We were told to run from Hammersmith to Hounslow West without stopping. Barely anyone wanted to do that, don't think I had more than 10 passengers on any single run. Loads of people at Hammersmith wanted a H91, but we were specifically told not to serve the stops, despite it closely paralleling the District Line between Hammersmith and Chiswick Park.

How can that get fed into those making these decisions ? Ridiculous. Used to be my local route back in LLW days !

Yeah when I used it there were only 4 people. All stops would have been far better, as it also goes past Gunnersbury and Osterley, and a lot of people use it to connect to other routes or walk from Ealing Road, Windmill Road, Boston Manor Road, Gillette Corner and Lampton Corner. That is where much of the demand is, not direct Hammersmith to Hounslow West. Maybe find Tridents, B7TL's or even Darts from somewhere rather than these if accessibility was an issue

I was doing the route 25 extra between Stratford and thameslink station serving all the 25 stops and it was very busy. And we had controllers and managers at Stratford stn and on tramway avenue looking after all bus operators doing the extra services. Even Mr Daniels from TfL was at Stratford bus stn.

Not a good idea to decrease capacity on the 157 with all the school loads it deals with. Better to grab deckers from the 350. Completely forgot about the 350, which is lightly loaded most of the time, even say the 484s E200s would be adequate Remember it was running as an EXTRA alongside the normal service.... I saw 8061 on the 188 and it was far from rammed

Presumably for Heathrow passengers? There is no direct bus route to Heathrow Central from Hounslow West, only Terminal 4 & 5. However, the Piccadilly line was running there so that could have been used. I'd imagine most Heathrow passengers used either a taxi/'cab or Heathrow Connect/Express from Paddington or Ealing Broadway. There was also the option of SWT to Feltham for the 285.

I am surprised Docklands SI garage never put it's WVLs on route D6 during the strike and the E200s on the 541 for two days. The 541 carries light loads so could managed with single deckers.
