Bus routes I've done end to end

I'm the same about school routes and night routes. Night routes don't really interest me as they're basically extensions of their daytime counterparts except the ones that aren't which don't really have one (like the N271 and N550) which I would actually try to do.

I'm the same about school routes and night routes. Night routes don't really interest me as they're basically extensions of their daytime counterparts except the ones that aren't which don't really have one (like the N271 and N550) which I would actually try to do.

Doing night routes (and school routes) is tough with a family. Have done a few over the years primarily because I needed to get back home or stayed on LOR (N15, N25 previously). N15 was done in 4 tranches and N25 in 3!

That would be so painfully tedious. I always get completely dead empty buses floored on the N87 and N155 and enjoy riding them occasionally but I can't imagine imagine how bad the busier ones like the N15, N25, N29, etc. can get on top of trying to tick them all off with daytime obligations in the way.

n207 is pretty much the only night bus I take unless I'm traveling from a different part of central London. The N207 is very hit and miss, last night was quiet for a Friday and Friday nights are usually busy from my observations. Weekday nights are usually quiet. I quite often sleep on the N207 if I can as I don't have the problem of missing my stop since I live around 10 minutes walk from Uxbridge. But I certainly wouldn't joyride the night buses, the only thing that is satisfying is the speeds or perhaps riding into the sunrise in the summer months. Apparently the N207 is the second most dangerous night bus (1st is the N29). Luckily I haven't witnessed anything apart from anti social behavior early one morning

I done a big part of the N29 last month and I didn't experience anything. Maybe I was just lucky

I can well imagine the tediousness of it, so many west London trunk routes are like that. The 195 and 297 were just as bad (two of my least favourite routes in all of London), the 260 and 266 are also incredibly slow and boring.

Quite a lot of inner North West and West London is boring. There are a few good routes in West London but they tend to be more in the suburbs.

18 and 113 are quite interesting NW London routes.

My favourite end to end route is probably the 96 as I like routes that are both busy and have a lot of contrast. There is tons of variation along the 96. You go from Woolwich which feels very much like inner London, then progress through Welling and Bexleyheath (suburbia) then into Dartford which sits outside TfL territory and you can see regional (mostly Arriva North Kent) bus services and KCC bus stops. Then there is a speedy express section with only 2 stops in a 4 mile stretch of North Kent serving Darenth Valley Hospital and finally into Bluewater. Bluewater is a great location to photograph regional bus services arriving from across Kent and even Surrey.

You can probably tell from my above suggestions that I’m not a fan of twisty turny routes. The 386 is my idea of a nightmare and if I was a driver I would happily do rounders on the 207 all day long.

I find the 260 a painful slog to use and nearly always opt for a 266 and change somewhere if necessary.

The 266 has always gets slandered but I love riding it on quiet mornings. So many places where it can go fast and the e2e isn’t that long.
