The N169 was actually blinded on some buses. I remember seeing a few daytime 169s with N169 or halve of it showing on the rear blinded. So they must have come quite close to implenting it.

The N28 was supposed to have been withdrawn and the 28 was to be converted into a 24 hour service.

If my memory serves me correct there was to be a single deck route P10 from Crystal Palace to Bermondsey via North Peckham. This was apparently planned around 1999/2000. I think this proposal should re-emerge if it was proposed to go via Camberwell Green!

Speaking of routings that were never were. I was going along Rainsford Road and I noticed there are bus lanes but no bus routes are running on it. So was this road going to have buses running on it?

Looking at the satellite view it seems there is an empty patch of land to the west of Rainsford Rd. If you look at other roads in the area they're designed to link into the empty area at some point in the future. I suspect a condition of planning approval was a dual carriageway Rainsford Rd including the bus lanes so that there was enough transport capacity from there through to Western Avenue. It certainly looks like a main distributor road into the area. However without the development there's no need to put a bus down Rainsford Rd. At some point it may well be built on and TfL may need to send something along there. Looking at the FirstCentral website it seems a former planned office development will be housing instead but the website looks old so perhaps the recession killed off the housing plans in the short term? Searching some more there is also a logistics park being built beside Rainsford Road. First Central downloadsOrigin Logistics Park

Interesting to note on the stub of Lakeview Drive that starts from the roundabout, a security gate with a sign stating something along the lines of 'Restricted Access except buses'. Google Streetview wouldn't let me go any further but you can the road just literally turn into grass not far beyond the gate. How populated were they expecting this area to be as one part of Rainsford Road has a bus lane on one side and then the next part has a bus lane on both sides.

Ironically I went past here yesterday on the 224. The Logistics Park Phase 1 was part built and will probably be ready for Autumn as suggested on the website. Not sure about the housing. Looking at the local road layout then TfL have a couple of options of rerouting the 224 or 440 to run via Cumberland Drive and more of Rainsford Rd if it was considered necessary. I think walking distances from Rainsford Rd to existing routes like the 224 and 226 are pretty short so there may be no changes at all. The new housing would be closest to the 226 anyway so the only question would be about capacity on that service on the Park Royal section. While I've ridden the 226 end to end I've not seen what the peak loadings are like.

Yes - annoyingly Barking and Dagenham Council have not published the report on the 498 proposal or, at least, I cannot find it on their website despite it being clearly stated a report was being produced. You could FOI it.... I did FOI the 498 report and seemingly one was never produced or considered by Councillors despite it being in the Council's minutes. The FOI team have not been able to find any record of the report and officials say it was never produced.

Route U1 was planned to start from South Ruislip Stonefield Way via Field End Road, The Fairway, West Mead, Victoria Road, Sidmouth Drive to Ruislip and the existing route.

I read somewhere a few years ago that the 77 was going to be split into two sections. One running from Tooting Station to Vauxhall (which was going to numbered 272 to coincide with Route 270) and the 77 would run from Clapham Junction to Waterloo.

The 447 was to run along Queenstown Road and Nine elms lane like the 156 eventually did. The 272 was a later idea to renumber the 77 to 272.

That extension makes sense I guess. Only one extra bus? That's not too bad. Why did they have to use a DWL in that page? :/
