The 31 and C11 get pretty bumpy along Adelaide Road Eastbound, also the Speed Humps on Regents Park Road along the 274 are like going over houses!

Theres a stretch of road near Queensbury on the 288 that was awfully bumpy last year - the zebra crossing road hump was very steep too which resulted in a louder bump onto the road surface.

(I know this isn't a road but it should still be avoided)
Avoid Walthamstow Bus Station, more recently there has been even more traffic.
My recommendation would be for the traffic lights green phases to be changed Green Phase 1 - North / South traffic green phase 2 - South into bus station and right turn out of bus station green phase 3 - left turn out of bus station (Pedestrian phases would be synchronised with the new phases)
(Sorry for going a bit off topic, needed to mention that after the ridiculous traffic in the bus station today)

For your idea to work you would need two lanes to allow buses to queue. You would also need to change the buses that serve stop A as they currently all turn right and would block the left filter lane and stop buses exiting. Therefore they'd need to move further back and the 58's stand would need to move. Perhaps the buses on stop B would move forward to stop A? You would need to undertake highway works at the entrance and in the bus station to create sufficient space for separate exit lanes. On the subject of the traffic lights I suspect those at the bus station, Hoe St / Selbourne Rd and Hoe St / Church Hill are all linked together to prevent them all jamming at once. I note that TfLBusAlerts have just tweeted about severe delays in Walthamstow due to excessive car parking on Hoe St and the traffic lights - doh!

Cars parking on Hoe Street causing delays have been around forever. Something has definitely changed in the last few weeks with the setting of the lights.

Taking into consideration what you said about difficulties with the 58, I looked to see if there could be any stop shuffling. Attachment Deleted W11 will stand were the 58 stands 20/58/69/257 will stand adjacent to (the current) stop E 215/34 stand opposite stop D (were the 69/48/257 previously stood) If the 20 can not get to stop B easily then it could move to stop C

A vast space wouldn't be required as an extra lane could be sufficient in dealing with congestion, or even provide a slight enhancement.

Talking of traffic and east London buses - is the main northbound drag through the East Ham shopping area worth avoiding? About a month ago I used the 101 from Beckton Alps to Wanstead Station - only a one off. East Ham was painfully slow - it took 1hr 40mins from East Ham Fire Station to Manor Park Station - I was fuming . If I knew the area better I would have got off way before I was delayed so much but that's what happened..... Is East Ham always bad, or was this a one off?

I think your journey time was exceptional but East Ham is a busy local centre, there's lots of traffic and lots of buses trying to get through the main shopping area. As several routes terminate / start at East Ham stop dwell times can be long and it's one of those places where people appear out of nowhere once a bus is on a stop. Just as a driver thinks he can shut the door another 8 people turn up and then as the 8th person gets on another 5 people arrive etc etc. A few months back I rode on several routes in the area so ended up going through East Ham about 5 times in one day. I think I felt a bit stir crazy by the end of it.

Gloucester Place has quite a few nice dips, makes the VLAs on the 2 and WVLs on the 74 enjoyable to ride

High Street North can be very slow; especially the bus only section.

All the concrete roads on the E6 after Hayes & Harlington Station
Also, some of the roads in the Havelock Estate on the E5

On the 488 the other day and the bus was shaking violently through the roads near Fish Island just before Hackney Wick. This then jogged a memory of the 323 (which uses the same buses) when it goes through Twelvetree Crescent. Surely nothing can be worse than those roads with the high road bumps!

I would avoid using the 53 eastbound between Deptford and Blackheath not because of the road conditions, which is perfectly fine, but because of the endless congestion on the A2 during evening peaks, this really needs sorting out. I usually take the 177 or 180 to Woolwich instead, even though I don't like them much. I always feel sorry for the 386 on this section, as it has to cope with the congestion right before its destination which is around the corner from there

It's always and always will be like that. Funnily enough, the 53 is still quicker to get to Woolwich to than the 177 or 180, especially when you get traffic in the Cutty Sark area.
