The 603 provides some useful links, I think it should be introduced as a regular day route using SDs. This could involve a few changes to routes around Hampstead, including splitting the 46. Not sure how routeings in Hampstead could work, in order to continue serving all roads requiring a bus service, though a rerouteing of the C11 to serve Hampstead rather than Adelaide Road & Englands Lane. * The 268 could be revised to operate between Finchley Road and Muswell Hill, via Hampstead, Highgate and East Finchley. Then the 46 rerouted to go between Golders Green and St Bart's Hospital, via Hampstead, Camden and Kings Cross - this could even divert via West Heath Road for new links, rather than via the 210/268. The Western end of the 46 could then be partially replaced by diverting the 332 via Warwick Avenue, then continuing via Paddington to Lancaster Gate - plus a frequency increase on the 187. *The revised 268 could perhaps keep its existing routeing via Belsize Park, while the C11 could divert via the 46 between Swiss Cottage and Hampstead Heath. Hmm seems a little bit of a mess here but overall good ideas You could just merge the 268 and 603 into a single deck day route and extend it to Lancaster Gate to replace the 46’s western section. You could have a 268 between Muswell Hill and Lancaster Gate and a 46 between Finchley Road and Bart’s Hospital The 603 however does not serve Golders Green so I would suggest extending a route there to Hampstead Heath like the 240 for example or whichever people think is suitable. Would also swap the 46 and 268 routings as the merged 268/603/46 I mentioned would connect together like people from Maida Vale to Lyndhurst Road. Have the Muswell Hill - Lancaster Gate bus run via Lyndhurst Road and the 46 going via Belsize Village instead Piligrim’s Lane bus stop will no longer have a bus if the routings were swapped but it is about a 45 second walk away and the route extended from Golders Green to Hampstead Heath will bring one instead. I suggest the 240. One last thing: This new merged route between Muswell Hill and Lancaster Gate get double deck school journeys like the 143 has because it will be very popular I think a Muswell Hill to Lancaster Gate route might be too long - the 187 parallels part of the 46 as far as Warwick Avenue so a frequency increase here should cover this section, alongside rerouteing the 332 as suggested. I also suggested that the revised 46 would go to Golders Green - this would replace the existing link from the 268. No need to extend the 240. The new 46 would take the existing routeing from St Barts to Hampstead Station, then continue to Golders Green, either via the 268 or via West Heath Road for new links.

The new 46 would take the existing routeing from St Barts to Hampstead Station, then continue to Golders Green, either via the 268 or via West Heath Road for new links. It should be manageable as the only traffic the Muswell Hill-Lancaster Gate would have is at Hampstead Station, the whole route doesn’t run through any traffic hotspots and could do the whole journey in 50-70 minutes. And about the 46, I wouldn’t reroute it to Golders Green only because the 46 actually has a purpose as the Kentish Town-Swiss Cottage/Finchley Road neighbourhoods are quite close to each other and the 46 is used alot in this section, and the 268/603 merged won’t be able to run alone between Swiss Cottage and Hampstead aswell as the 187 between Swiss Cottage and Warwick Avenue. I like the 332 idea too, and you have a good point from Maida Vale the 6, 187 and 414 is definitely enough. You could have the merged 268/603 run between Warwick Avenue and Muswell Hill only. With the 332 extended from Paddington to Lancaster Gate in replacement. And about the 240 in replacement of the 268 here for the small section, its only a small extension and could actually be good for the 240 as it links places which is not as easy, a Hamsptead to Mill Hill link would be very popular in my opinion during schools aswell as the merged 268/603 between Warwick Avenue and Lancaster Gate. The only bad thing here is the bad traffic at Hampstead which will probably affect the 240. It would be nice for a double deck though it gets busy on the 268s.

Regarding the Kentish Town link, my C11 proposal would link Swiss Cottage and Hampstead as far as Gospel Oak & Parliament Hill, so not far from Kentish Town. Additionally, perhaps the 393 could extend from Chalk Farm to Swiss Cottage or Finchley Road, replacing the C11's capacity on this section and offering some new links towards Highbury. This could also remove the need for the 31 to go via Fairfax Road. However, with your 240 proposal, I do think it might be be beneficial to introduce a DD route through Hampstead Village - it does already have the night route N5. I've often considered a higher frequency route between Golders Green and Central London going via Hampstead, however due to the traffic congestion, the lower frequency 240 might be a better candidate.

Im sorry if I come off as rude here sometimes I am when I don’t mean too when I disagree with something. I actually really would be in support of the 46/C11 swapping routings. The 46 would do better anyways. My only problem here which I think is the Primrose Hill not being served by people from West Hampstead and the Belsize Park to Parliament Hill Fields link being lost by the C11. Overall though, some good ideas. I don’t see an issue if they did though, so if the 46 was rerouted to Finchley Road and replaced the C11 via Belsize Park and the C11 rerouted via Hampstead Village it wouldn’t be too bad. England’s Lane will be an issue on the 46’s BELs though, the DEs already struggle with all those parked cars. About the 393, sadly the route is already way too long as it is. It only use to run as far as Holloway until the Morrisons came in Chalk Farm for local journeys. The 393 also serves Holloway Morrisons too.

Its always been glaring to me that there isnt a link from Hampstead High street and Camden Town. I know it's always been like that but still strikes me as odd that the 168 only comes up as far as Pond Street and the 268 turns off past Belsize Park.

The Northern Line as londonboy71 said is where people use, but it is odd. I guess the 46/268 are enough as they circle Hampstead so most areas have a bus service. The 168 is also quite long, so probably why.

Well the temporary extension of route 383 to Finchley Memorial will commence at the end of this month with the consultation being published later this year on whether the extension should be made permanent and same goes for route N20. The 324 consultation is to be published later this year with implementation next year in 2021, if it goes ahead as proposed.

It seems from a TfL point of view that it isn't being extended until 17th October at the earliest.
