This year won’t see any further night services like the ones on the 174 and 248 on New Year’s Eve, in fact there are less services overnight this year as the weekend operated night routes still haven’t been reinstated.

I notice according to LondonBusRoutes.net that route 507 and 521 are having their frequency restored to every 3-4 and every 2 respectively from next week. I wonder if that's a tad early. I know these routes were designed to be high frequency corridors, but how much do people really travel between Victoria, Waterloo and London Bridge by bus? Every time I've used one there is hardly anyone on it. Surely the 507 especially doesn't need to be every 6 minutes for the whole day? Is every 2 minutes in peaks for the 521 not a bit extreme, given that the Waterloo and City Line exists? To think of all the routes and frequencies being cut elsewhere, but TfL seem to have endless resources for these and the 38. These routes (like most routes) are not designed for end-to-end travel. You might get some end-to-end travel on the 507 but hardly any on the 521. These routes are designed to link the mainline rail termini with workplaces along the route, not to link the termini with each other. Pre-Covid they were very busy in the peaks. Sure they would have been quiet off-peak, given that they are mainly used by commuters, but whenever I used them in the peak (pre-covid) you could see why they needed to be that frequent.

Regarding the P5, how does widening the headway help with social distancing and what are these social distancing schemes that apply on the P5? The widening is to allow for more time to cope with the congestion caused by social distancing road and lane closures in place along the route. Thanks - interesting that londonbusroutes specifically mentions traffic congestion from LTN's being an additional reason for the widening although I'm honestly not surprised they're causing issues - www.londonbusroutes.net/changes.htm#10843

It’s also worth noting that the school services still remains to end on the 18th December even with the Christmas and early January period covered by the recent update.

What I don’t get is the Information on the 28th and 29th January. Pretty sure night buses run to the same timetable on Tuesday’s and Wednesday’s. What it means is that on Monday 28th December a Sunday service will operate. The Monday night/Tuesday morning night service will operate to a Sunday night/Monday morning timetable. The Tuesday daytime service will operate to a Saturday timetable*. The Tuesday night/Wednesday morning service will operate to the normal Tuesday night/Wednesday morning timetable. The Wednesday daytime service will operate to a Saturday timetable*. The Wednesday night/Thursday morning service will operate to the normal Wednesday night/Thursday morning timetable. Which you are right, is the same as the Tuesday night/Wednesday morning timetable. Myself I prefer to use "Tuesday night/Wednesday morning" as it reduces confusion, but it is more cumbersome and I expect it is done this way to keep the message as simple as possible. Remember this information is aimed at the general public, not bus enthusiasts. * with special timetables on route 521 and X68 which do not normally operate on a Saturday.

It’s also worth noting that the school services still remains to end on the 18th December even with the Christmas and early January period covered by the recent update. School extras in Hertfordshire are continuing until at least February 2021 so I would expect the TfL extras to do similar. I have seen nothing yet to say the extras are being withdrawn.

I do wonder if the Lancaster Gate stand is needed for the 414 even if it runs out of service to it Y times of day and other times can squeeze onto the current Marble Arch stands.

Would cost money tfl don't have and would go against the desire to reduce buses along Oxford Street.

Would cost money tfl don't have and would go against the desire to reduce buses along Oxford Street. Not really, it could be done with the same PVR.
