Can roadworks prevent a bus route from being introduced or extended? Mainly because the 456 could possible be delayed again as there is water works on one part of its route which will not finish until the 15th.

Yes, depends on extent of roadworks, but if not suitable for running the bus down there, then a new service is likely to wait. Similarly if can’t get to new stand then unlikely to be extended until ready. Also how far an alternative temporary route around the works would be, would also be considered. If been waiting months / years few extra days delay is not significant, but if talking months of delay then rather more incentive to try and do something

The 384 wasn't delayed, but had a diversion up the A1 to the M25 on it's first few days of being extended to Edgware.

New route 456 will replace current route W10 from Saturday 13 March providing a much-improved service on all days of the week. Route 456 will run between Crews Hill, Golf Ride and North Middlesex Hospital serving all stops on the current route W10 to Enfield Town Centre before extending via Enfield Chase Station, Slades Hill, Bincote Road, Worlds End Lane, Eversley Park Road, Church Hill, Winchmore Hill Station, Station Road, Winchmore Hill Town Centre, Farm Road, Firs Lane, Hedge Lane, Great Cambridge Roundabout, Silver Street, finishing at North Middlesex University Hospital. Route 456 will provide brand new links to North Middlesex Hospital from the Enfield area as well as new connections in the Winchmore Hill area. At North Middlesex Hospital buses will set down and pick up on Bridport Road. Route 456 will run every 30 minutes on Monday to Saturdays and every hour on Sundays. First buses will depart around 0700 from both Crews Hill and North Middlesex Hospital with last buses departing by 2000 each day. We will also be introducing new fixed bus stops along various sections of the route starting with Clay Hill and Willow Road in Enfield and on Hedge Lane in the Edmonton area. (credit to VMH2537 for posting in GAL thread)
The 456 starts today!
...and now has its own route page on the TfL website, in case you'd like to see a map of where it goes.
(the page for the withdrawn W10 has itself been withdrawn)

This may have gone quiet but until April for anyone who doesn’t know:
Route 253 is withdrawn between Mornington Crescent and Euston and stands on Harlington Square. The alighting point is Mornington Crescent station stop D which is shared with the 27 towards Baker Street. Buses start towards Hackney from bus stop A which is shared with the 24, 27, 29, 134, N27, N29, N279
Routes N5, N20 and N253 have been rerouted towards TCR/TSQ between Mornington Crescent and Warren Street via route 24/29 and serve all stops.
As for route 168, I believe it is on diversion towards Old Kent Road between Mornington Crescent and Euston via route 214 to St Pancras and ahead Euston Road to Upper Woburn Place. Or it is navigating through the single file temp traffic lights, quite unclear as have seen it in both places.
This is because of roadworks on Eversholt Street.

Trust certain residents to be moaning about the 456 even when cars are speeding along the pavements of Bincote Road (is this supposed to be hail-and-ride to the junction with Enfield Road, by the way?): Motorists mount the kerb to escape school-run gridlock in London www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-9363237/Motorists-mount-kerb-drive-grass-verges-escape-school-run-gridlock-London.html?ito=native_share_article-masthead

It doesn’t normally have a Sunday service.

That will be a relief not to be greeted by quite so many LTs when I arrive in London at Euston. All we need now is for route 14 or 188 to replace route 59 between Russell Square and Euston.

The City of London has a consultation running until the 10th May regarding changes to bus routes using the Bank junction as part of the All change at Bank project. Route 8, 11, 26, 133, N8, N11, N26, N133 & N242 would be modified, with the 133 no longer serving Bank junction and continuing as is now (but in both directions) via Bishopsgate. No changes to other routes. consultation page linkEDIT: Apologises for the duplication there was also a thread in the off route section

Routes 8/N8, 11/N11, 26/N26 and N242 would divert via the southern end of Bishopsgate and Cornhill in both directions, with the 11/N11 and 26/N26 also diverting via Poultry and Queen Street in both directions. Route 133 would divert via London Wall, Bishopsgate and Gracechurch Street in both directions and miss out Bank Junction. Princes Street, Cornhill, King William Street and Poultry would all remain available to buses in both directions. Any possible curtailment of route 43 to Moorgate is not included as part of this proposal.
