Music is subjective my personal favourite genre is of an electronic basis my favourite band who I have seen many times is New Order but I can am do listen to many other artists/bands Indeed - my own preference is for 80's pop & rock but I do have a soft spot for old school reggae, 90's dance, and even some dance stuff from more recent times. When I was younger, I was into hip hop & R&B but grew out of it when I hit my 20's. Funnily enough, I have two New Order tracks - the excellent Blue Monday and not just the radio edit version but the 7 minute version & True Faith

A lost child of the 80s here Synthpop, new wave, pop-rock, funk, italo-disco (a fascinating genre UK mostly missed out on), experimental, and whatever I find interesting; has to have a distinct melody pretty much - nothing today is memorable or even pleasurable for the ear, so 😂 There is only one 2018 song I can name at all and it's because it was in a video mocking our PM (it was "Baby Shark" 😂) An odd 90s track and several 70s hits also appeal to me. And ABBA deserve a category of their own of course And I also have a soft spot for Kim Wilde, quite a fan and I've met her 3 times by now Because I grew up with radio always on during car journeys, now I can't do my bus adventures without earphones in. 80's music is my thing to, especially Duran Duran & Genesis/Phil Collins amongst others. Also like old school Reggae, 90's Dance, particular tracks and artists from the 00's & 10's like Katy B & Jessie Ware so quite a mix I recommend listening Journey's music whilst out & about, particularly the Frontiers album which has some absolute barnstormers of tracks

Interesting track choices there. I only own the Pat Benatar track. You follow me on Twitter so you'll see my loony tweets about music shows but if you want to indulge in the less often heard tracks, incl Italo Disco, then there is a huge archive of shows on Mixcloud. Three shows that cover the 80s are Eighties Time Machine - broadcast by Phonic FM in Exeter. Next show is tomorrow and then next Sunday. Always first two Sundays of the month at 4pm for 2 hours. Very eclectic mix of music with lots of good non top 40 songs incl Italo Disco, 12" mixes etc. My 80s - Sadly this show has stopped but it was very good. Pistols to Pulp - this has hopped around different stations but is now weekly on Thursdays at 7 pm on Mad Wasp Radio. It covers all genres from 76 to 96 so a right old mixed bag of songs but again some real gems. There is also a weekly 70s show called Sequins to Suburbs on Mad Wasp Radio on Sundays at 7pm. I'm less knowledgeable about the 70s so this is more of a mixed bag for me personally but there is some very good stuff played. There is also Forgotten80s on Absolute 80s on Sundays at 9pm. This is a bit more mainstream as it's a full blown commercial station but there are rarely heard songs too. Sadly no longer archived to Mixcloud. You have to use an app to access the most recently played shows. Old shows from about 18 months ago and earlier are on Mixcloud. Indeed, love the Little Red album particularly the track Hot Like Fire.

Saw Alison Moyet and Tears for Fears in concert the O2 on Tuesday. Both artists in very fine form. Alison Moyet's voice is as good as ever and we got the treat of three Yazoo songs as part of her set. She just casually mentioned "oh here's a song I wrote when I was 16" and then she goes on to sing "Nobody's Diary" by Yazoo. In a similar vein we got "this is the first song I recorded in a proper recording studio" - she then sings Only You by Yazoo. I've never seen a support act get the cheers and sustained applause that she got - completely deserved of course.
We then got Tears for Fears. This concert was rearranged from last year because of health concerns that forced a postponement. Both Curt and Roland were in good form. The concert was a virtual sell out and people were on their feet and dancing from the first song - Everybody wants to rule the world. That's actually their one song I can't cope with now because it's been so horrendously overplayed for the last 34 years. The rest of the set was a great mix of the familiar hits from their first two albums plus some lesser known stuff including album tracks from the Hurting that I've not heard in a very long time. At the very end the encore song was Shout and there was an enormous set of bangs at the end and huge smoke colums filled the air with confetti like material that was cascading down from the ceiling. I was actually very near one of the explosive columns and have been picking pits of confetti up all over my flat as it clearly got everywhere - in my coat, hoodie etc.
And just to throw in the transport bit door to door from the O2 to my house - 50 mins including a short wait for a 97 which left Stratford City 4 mins early for some reason. That's pretty exceptional for that journey.

That's pretty exceptional for that journey. I have the Songs from the Big Chair album to the point I brought the Deluxe Remastered version with all the B sides, radio edits & extended mixes and it's incredible, particularly Head Over Heels/Broken & the anthem Shout. I can understand why your sort of sick of Everybody Wants to Rule the World given it's airtime over the years plus the many covers including a recent one by Lorde I believe. As for The Hurting, I've still not been able to fully like it and have only a couple of tracks - Pale Shelter was the first Tears for Fears song I downloaded due to playing GTA Vice City on PS2, a game that was set in Miami in the 80's and as such, has a great 80's soundtrack. The Prisoner is my favourite track though and I love the haunting sounds going on throughout the track including the irregular drumbeat. As for Alison Moyet, love Love Resurrection & Is This Love and recently gave her Alf album a whirr discovering Invisible (admittedly, I heard this in advert not too long ago which spurred me to listen to the album) & All Cried Out which is a song that I've heard many times in the past but couldn't remember the name or who sang it - now I know
