How many of these have been ordered, and for which operators? Are they just with Abellio on the 109/N109 at the moment?

I think GAL have ordered MMCs for the new 135 contract but with a B5LH chassis as opposed to the standard chassis. About 70 have been ordered by Go-Ahead but no one knows where the rest of the buses will go. Abellio also have some more MMCs due for the new 415 contract starting next month from WL. Stagecoach has also ordered MMCs for the 177 and 498, with the 177 buses having a B5LH chassis.

Thanks. It'll be great if they go on the 135. I like the look of them.

Abellio also have some more MMCs due for the new 415 contract starting next month from WL. And some more after that for the contract renewal of the 350 in March.

It would be great if Metroline order them for the 6 and 98 too, either the E400H or the coventional type. The VPs are getting old and boring and it's about time they're replaced.

The only things I like about the VPs are the ride and the engine sound That's surely pretty important! I don't like the standard e400's or the look of the new mmc (haven't been on one yet) I wish the tridents would stick around!

They are surely important factors and I don't dislike the VPs either, in fact my favourite older DDs are the 04 reg LWB VPLs and LWB VLAs. It's just that 10+ years being stuck with the VPs on my local 6 is a bit too long now especially with its high frequency, it would be great for a fresh change.

The looks of the MMC are much better than the 1st generation E400's but they are way noisier than the old. The GAL B5's on order should be interesting. So its time to watch with interest.

I do wonder if they only just meet TfL's minimum noise requirement as they sound as loud as a B7TL's engine fan. I will not be surprised if certain residence complain about their decibels, hoping they don't get a ban from the 157 (or 152) as a result. Perhaps the buses will get some sort of sound proofing modification in due course.

The Euro VI MMC's are actually slightly quieter than the standard Euro VI Enviro 400H - you can easily hear them being thrashed on the N3 at night.

I must ride both versions on the same day for comparisons, best place being Croydon for the 75 and 109/157 accordingly.

I like the louder sound of the older gen 14/64regs better than the sound of the MMCs.
