People had been stuck on trains for longer during the bad weather. I know, all night in the New Forest the previous day. It was either get off or be stuck there in sub zero temperatures for goodness only knows how long. Do you now agree that the whole "snow debacle" across all the different companies including the handling by Network Rail was a bit of a shambles ? It's all good the companies telling people not too travel unless completely necessary , But people have bills to pay , Kids to feed etc so for a lot of the people who travelled when warned not too it was absolutely necessary , 3 hours with little to no information on a freezing cold train isn't really good enough IMO, I just hope next year when the Snow comes ( and it will) All the companies and Network Rail handle it better .

In fairness it was exceptional weather conditions. I think the advice to passengers was not to embark on a journey but obviously those that were already at work needed to get home.

You seem optimistic Everytime we have problems when it snows in this country and it seems lessons are not being learned, the country just goes into panic mode rather than actually effectively dealing with the situation.

Other European countries are no different. Obviously Canada, Russia and Scandinavian countries have sufficient heavy snowfall to make investing in the appropriate equipment worthwhile.

have i only just woken up or has this just been introduced?:the class 465 destination displays have the terminus in big letters but in small letters underneath all the via stations are listed and are scrolling from right to left I noticed this on the Orpington to Victoria services the other day. I don't think it's very useful as by the time you've read half of them the train moves. You're better off with the ultimate destination and then one key via point underneath.

Agree with this - it’s also frustrating having to read it on buses outside London and yet some have suggested it for London which would never work.

For example 477 Swanley, Dartford and Bluewater. If you add in St Mary Cray, Crockenhill, Hextable and Wilmington it would be too long.

The stopping points have always been scrolled, it's the only way they can all be displayed. Anyway if the train starts moving you've missed it anyway lol. I think most passengers are guided by the platform displays and announcements.

RAIB to (quite rightly) investigate Lewisham.

The scrolling via stations feature was removed on the 08:21 service to Orpington At West Dulwich Today

Seems that South Eastern have suffered a variant of the stalled trains incident today. A burnt out cable caused loss of power on the Tanner Hill ramp between St Johns and Lewisham causing a train to stall. It took 2 hours to get a train alongside and everyone evacuated across. Then eventually the train was moved out of the affected section.
Wonder if today's events will be added to the existing RAIB investigation?

In addition why did it take Network Rail staff over two and a half hours to arrive if it was urgent and other lines were being blocked.
