The First 717 is due for delivery next month with almost half the fleet already built and undergoing testing. The commissioning team will travel back to Wildenrath in a few weeks time to finish training and testing.

The new Class 717s will operate in Tube Tunnels between Drayton Pk and Moorgate. How will HVAC work on this section of line?
Tube Trains can't have Air Con because of no proximity to dump waste hot air in Tube Tunnels.

The new Class 717s will operate in Tube Tunnels between Drayton Pk and Moorgate. How will HVAC work on this section of line? Tube Trains can't have Air Con because of no proximity to dump waste hot air in Tube Tunnels. I suspect the relatively short tunnel length means there will not be too much of an issue. Whether Network Rail are enhancing any tunnel vents / fans I do not know. I suspect there may be some reliance on whatever LU has done at Moorgate, Old Street and Highbury to cope with upgraded services (and more tunnel heat). The most likely troublesome location is Moorgate where trains will stand for a number of minutes and where there is only slow speed movement so little tunnel draught to move any heat. My experience of using the Northern City line is that the tunnels are fairly cool anyway and the arrival of a train creates a pretty strong cooling draught. Have Network Rail done anything to cope with the 700s on the Thameslink tunnel sections? Obviously the Widened Lines are cut and cover with many open sections so not an issue but there are older tunnels north of St Pancras which carry a lot of air con stock. I'm assuming the Canal Tunnels are built to modern standards but they are dual track, not single bore AIUI.

By luck caught a 365 being dragged from the Ostrich Farm to Wembley Yard at H&I, anyone know final destination? Scotrail, maybe?

Yep this is going to scotrail on loan while the 385’s get their cab ends sorted As there's no demand for them elsewhere, ScotRail may as well retain the 365s alongside the 385s, in order to withdraw some of the older stock (classes 314/318/320).

Trouble is ScotRail have longer term leases on the older stock ... whilst only short term ones on the 365s
