As there's no demand for them elsewhere, ScotRail may as well retain the 365s alongside the 385s, in order to withdraw some of the older stock (classes 314/318/320). Trouble is ScotRail have longer term leases on the older stock ... whilst only short term ones on the 365s GWR would have been ideal for 365s as they already have the diesel 165/166s - these could have been used instead of the 769s with some allocation swaps between routes. If southeastern need more stock, the 365s could be converted to DC power to operate with the 465/466s.

I’ve noticed that Southern have been busy changing the departure screens on stations from Purley Oaks to Caterham, I watched them while they were being installed at Kenley as well as having ATOS Anne and Matthew Streeton announcements replace the old Phil Sayer and Celia Drummond announcements. Really is a shame to see these go since they’ve been announcing trains since I was young but I did expect them to be phased out eventually following the tragic passing of Phil Sayer two years ago.

Matthew Streeton is actually a GTR/Go-Ahead employee! Believe it or not. Was ex First before

As part of Grayling's statement to the house about VTEC he set out what may be happening to the GTR franchise in terms of splitting it out. The very noteworthy items here are a) remaining longer distance GN services to Kings Cross may transfer into the future East Coast Partnership services / LNER b) some elements of the Inner Suburban services could transfer to London Overground under Mayoral control. Lots of nice class 717s to don orange livery!!

Thameslink's revised services off to a flying start - NOT!
All of the Kentish Town - Plumstead (normally Rainham) trains are cancelled as there aren't the drivers. Fair number of other cancellations affecting servivces to Cambridge, Sutton Loop and P'Boro - Horsham services. Services on the Hertford North line to Moorgate are also suffering cancellations - some gaps up to 90 mins between trains which is pathetic.
Does NOT bode well for tomorrow.

NRE has the 16:31 Plumstead to Kentish Town as running. If that turns out to be true it will be the first ever Thameslink service on the Greenwich line. Big if though...

Still cancellations on other routes. www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-cambridgeshire-44188947

This was due to a Horsham to Peterborough being unable to depart St Pancras due to the driver not knowing the route.

I'm on 9P53 1826 Kentish Town - Plumstead, been cancelled between Kentish and LBG due to late arrival of inbound stock. www.realtimetrains.co.uk/train/W46389/2018/05/20/advancedDue off LBG at 1848 but driver just announced it could be up to 30mins until we depart. Relief driver probably due to change over at Blackfriars (cancelled) and being taxied over to LBG? It's been an absolute phuck up all day on GTR. Can't wait for Monday morning. Popcorn at the ready...

Still cancellations on other routes. www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-cambridgeshire-44188947GTR tweeted earlier on that they hoped to get the service running later in the day. Seems they've tried to do so but have been undone by the complexity of the crew logistics. There are virtually no drivers who have been "signed" (learnt the route) for the full Rainham to Kentish Town service. This means they need THREE separate drivers (and changes) for every departure. The driving training is weeks / months behind schedule and GTR have been trying to poach South Eastern drivers but, of course, they aren't trained on Class 700s. The issues with driver numbers and training go back to the final period of First Capital Connect where the wrong numbers were provided to bidders and thus Govia ended up in a massive hole they've been slowly digging themselves out of ever since. Now the train service requirement has stepped up markedly and in its complexity and we have what we've seen today. I expect it will be pretty poor for the next few months. I think the media will have a field day tomorrow just because so much has changed and people will be caught out even if every train runs perfectly (which is very doubtful).

Last week MF from my local station we had London bound trains at 0438,0508,0523,0538,0553.
Today, and apparently for almost a month, we have 0438 then 0555.
Spot the difference and the impact this will have on anyone needing to be at work between 0630 & 0700, which is the most common shift start time.
They've been telling us passengers about these changes for 3 months but can't organise themselves.
