Whilst some changes are needed let's not throw the baby out with the bath water, it's a great network when it's running properly. And a lot of the recent problems have been beyond GTR control, NR problems, fires and other things caused by the weather conditions. Coulsdon South and Merstham would still be served by Southern services if Thameslink services are disrupted. Yes *when* being the key word. I use Thameslink daily and it’s constantly plaqued by issues. The concept of Thameslink looks great on paper, but so does fish and chips I use Thameslink quite regularly and generally it's fine and as far as I'm aware it's been ok today? I've got elderly relatives in Sussex who think it's great to jump on a train direct to Stevenage and then a cross platform interchange onto a train to the north of England or Scotland, no more lugging suitcases across Central London. Obviously this means a problem at Stevenage could have knock on effects in Sussex but equally the same problem could effect services in York or Newcastle. Clearly there are things that could be improved, driver changeovers at Finsbury Park can be problematic and I think the Rainham service that has been mentioned on here before should at least be cut back to Dartford and replaced by Southeastern.

Well yes it’s fine today on the two trips I’ve made but it’s hardly a normal service running

2022 has been a sad year for London rail heritage. My favourite north and south London trains as I got to know buses outside central London were 317s and 455s respectively.

I know it’s usually weekday peaks but looking for their specific workings In the morning they work the 0751 from SNF-LST, and in the afternoon and evening they work the following round trips out of Liv Street : 1630, 1815, 1957, 2142, and 2334, which only does the journey to Shenfield.

Brent Cross West is making good progress and is on target for its planned December 2022 opening. A novel form of scaffolding has enabled some of the platform fittings to be installed without needing to close the railway lines. The new station also has provision for the future proposed West London Orbital passenger service which would join the freight-only Dudding Hill Line south of Brent Cross West. www.ianvisits.co.uk/articles/latest-photos-of-the-new-brent-cross-west-station-56872/

Or for routes at Staples Corner to directly serve the new station?

Thanks to your good self (and the others on here who assisted me), I got my ride yesterday on the 16:30 working up to Shenfield and back so thanks very much

Does anyone know if the Southern service from Watford Junction to Clapham Junction will return to 8 car as from the 4th September it will go from Watford Junction to East Croydon.

Does anyone know if the Southern service from Watford Junction to Clapham Junction will return to 8 car as from the 4th September it will go from Watford Junction to East Croydon. I thought it was a permanent cut just like the other cuts that came in when the 455's were withdrawn? I still find it barmy how the Epsom Downs to Victoria service has retained 8 cars but the Caterham to London Bridge service via Tulse Hill is now just 5 cars - is it really a busier service than the via Tulse Hill service?
