Does anyone know if the Southern service from Watford Junction to Clapham Junction will return to 8 car as from the 4th September it will go from Watford Junction to East Croydon. I thought it was a permanent cut just like the other cuts that came in when the 455's were withdrawn? I still find it barmy how the Epsom Downs to Victoria service has retained 8 cars but the Caterham to London Bridge service via Tulse Hill is now just 5 cars - is it really a busier service than the via Tulse Hill service? I feel like the Watford to East Croydon train needs more carriages because it gets really crowded even at 1pm in the afternoon, even an extra carriage would be better.

They will remain formed of 4 coaches, and it will probably stay that way until the 377/5's start returning to Southern which might not happen until December at the very earliest. That plan all depends on when SWR can get its Class 701's in service... Not ideal I know but unfortunately there are not enough 377's at the moment to strengthen the West London Line services.

Network Rail is to spend around £5 million on installing two lifts to make Streatham Station fully accessible, although due to site constraints platform 2 will only have an 8-person lift which could cause problems for people in larger mobility vehicles. The entrance hall will be revamped at the same time. The work is expected to be completed by Autumn 2023 and it should not be necessary to close the station at any time - a temporary footbridge will be provided when the main staircases are unavailable. www.ianvisits.co.uk/articles/step-free-access-coming-to-streatham-station-57252/

Quick question regarding the Southern Daysave ticket:
I brought one the other day for this Saturday to start from Victoria (wanted to do the full Victoria to Portsmouth service) but only realised now due to works, the service is running from London Bridge instead yet because I already purchased my ticket and you have to pick a start point despite being a ticket is valid for travel from all stations were Southern trains call and on all Southern services, my question is do you actually have to start at that station or could I go to London Bridge (not via the Southern service from Victoria) and pick the train up there instead?

With all the discussion of the SouthEastern timetable changes this has rather slipped under the radar. Whilst 4tph from Anerley and Penge West is fine they don't go where most people want to go, London Bridge and East Croydon, and they're only five car trains meaning they can be near full by the time they get to Forest Hill.

How did it slip under the radar when it was mentioned several times in the aforementioned Southeastern thread regarding the loss of services at Anerley & Penge West? Meanwhile, the reduction to 5 car trains on Southern has been mentioned by myself on here several times, more in relation to the London Bridge via Tulse Hill service but it has been mentioned

No Southern trains calling at West Croydon today, the LO 378s unaffected as drivers self dispatch.

Work is about to start on the Harringay Station footbridge, which will be repaired and strengthened. A footbridge was installed here in 1885 and parts of the original structure are still in use.
The footbridge used to carry a large station building over the tracks, but this burned down in the 1960s and was demolished. The current ticket office will be removed to allow the footbridge to be refurbished, it will not be replaced as the refurbished footbridge would not be able to support a structure which meets modern building regulations. Instead a passenger assistance office has been built on southbound platform 1, with a Help Point on the footbridge for anyone who needs assistance to get down to the platforms. New passenger shelters will also be erected on both platforms.
Most of the work will take place overnight, and the station will remain open throughout.
Lifts will not be installed as the high costs and the steep slopes on the footbridge connecting to adjacent roads mean it is not worthwhile to do so.

When will Thameslink re serve South Croydon? I assume it will because its on the latest edition of the Tube Map They will return by May latest, however the East Grinstead to Bedford service is in as a Q path so it could return at a moment's notice. 9J07, the 05:54 Peterborough to Horsham did call at South Croydon until the last set of timetable reductions. This call could be reinstated soon however. And now South Croydon sees an all day Thameslink service in the December 2022 timetable, as the 9Rxx service group now calls there all day. This is in addition to East Grinstead now having its pre-covid Thameslink service restored
