Interesting that they are back with more "interim" repairs only 8 months after the last lot (looking at the special page H&F have put on their website). I suspect the bridge is being pounded to death by the vehicles crossing it. I'd not be shocked to see a total ban on bus movements across it happen next year before the full closure starts for the substantive repairs.

Maybe I missed it but being TfL they could’ve bothered to illustrate the changes using a bus map. I know the area but even I had to think where Lonsdale Road was😂

Will the strengthening of Hammersmith Bridge ever begin? The start date keeps being pushed back. You might as well build a new bridge next to it,

Not so much a report but the draft LIP for Transport. democracy.lbhf.gov.uk/documents/s103032/Appendix%201%20Draft%20LIP%203.pdfTowards the end there is a 3 year programme and £36m is certainly shown for bridge strengthening. It is worth noting that TfL have cut the indicative funding for LIP schemes (usually small scale stuff so not the bridge works) by 24% for the next three years. This applies to all boroughs. Even a skim reading of the H&F Council paper shows they are not happy with this at all and want a lot more money!

Appears the local paper has discovered that price for fixing the bridge has jumped by £11m from £25m (2014 estimate) to £36m (based on a report at tonights H&F Council meeting) Now appears to work is likely to start before late 2019 and could be 2021 before work is finished www.getwestlondon.co.uk/news/west-london-news/hammersmith-bridge-repairs-been-delayed-15372211Don't know what a replacement bridge would cost, but as a guide the new Walton bridge cost £32m Hammersmith Bridge is an iconic structure and I don't think residents would be pleased to have their bridge replaced. Equally I don't think the residents of Castelnau would welcome a new bridge that would potentially funnel more traffic through their area.

Surely, it can be replaced with an exact replica but one that can withstand the weight of modern traffic. As for Castlenau residents, I wouldn’t be surprised if they held that view giving the houses along there - ok I’m stereotyping but many other similar areas has these types of selfish residents.

Apparently a local residents group in Barnes have been shown a letter by a councillor regarding Hammersmith Bridge works. Seems the detailed survey has been completed and long term future is not good unless serious money (no idea of amount) is spent replacing parts. Separately have heard figures of £25m upwards being suggested (what if it is £40m) Alternative is to reduce status to pedestrian and cycle bridge. Tried to find a link, but nothing on H&F website although found this (which may be source of rumour) www.putneysw15.com/shared/issuehammersmithbridge002.htmI do wonder if TfL would spend that much, or if it will simply divert buses away (initially temporarily, but eventually permanent), plenty of possible long term solutions from dropping routes, diverting routes like 265 to Castlenau, diverting shortened 391 from Richmond to Barnes (via Kew retail park) instead, running service from Barnes via Chiswick Bridge,

Divert routes away temporarily...then permanently...then cut routes where areas are over-bussed.
