And what makes you think any other operators wouldn’t do the same? The SL2 is going to be a very challenging route regardless of who runs it with the A13 close by,A406 and Ilford Lane causing issues. Because other operators don't have a habit of shutting down portions of the route every week? They do, just you have selective rose tinted glasses that does not see when Stagecoach does it.

Wright are very quick at delivering. The batch for the 64 is complete, it's more a case of infrastructure slowing down the entry to service. I think the Electroliner is excellent. Much better than the BYD product if you ask me. Hoping to see lots more ordered by Arriva for this group of results. Interested to see what 255 gets..... I am not a fan of the BYD product. Mainly the poor lower deck layout. I actually cannot wait for Alexander Dennis to dump the BYD chassis in favour of their own.

Just would have loved to see the look of the guy with the rose tinted glasses face reading the reveal of the SL2. The company was unfortunate over not securing the el routes and a few others which was ultimately spelling the death bed for [DX] The good thing is in the South some of the routes that were not in favour of being secured has been with the combined group bid I don't have an issue with DX winning it, the issue starts when every bus will now end up turned short at Barking in masses when something goes wrong on the A406. Still got the 150 and 175 to go, would assume any benefit DX gets will be reliant on both those routes staying. Hmm so you are the rose tinted glases guy, lol Anyway never judge a book by its cover. The SL routes would have different operation differences to normal bus routes.

I assume the ES allocations will be as follows: ES51-83 (279) ES84-113 (243) ES114-130 (50) ES131-146 (194) ES147-170 (250) ES171 (689) ES172-188 (289) ES189 (663) This is obviously banking on the assumption all these routes will get ES It's a big order so Arriva London may dual-source and order some vehicles from ADL, or possibly even Volvo. Wright are very quick at delivering. The batch for the 64 is complete, it's more a case of infrastructure slowing down the entry to service.

The SL2 will operate out of Barking. Argument Dun… Finally DX has gained a route the Witches Hat Roundabout theory is history. Argument Dun… Finally DX has gained a route the Witches Hat Roundabout theory is history. I hope this result inspires Arriva to bid to retain routes 150 and 175 at DX. There is going to be a significant upchange over the next coming months with other plans been changed due to planned investment changes. It would also mean development work at [WN] would also be changed.

Arriva have kept the 50, 194, 250, 255, 289, 410 and won the 663 and SL2. All new electrics except 410 & SL2. 289 to go decker! Talk about going for it! Not long saw the internal email. A little bit of good news. The cat got let out of the bag yesterday about the SL2, it was hillarious as the writing was on the wall and everyone thought Stagecoach had it.

To: All colleagues
Subject: Important announcement
Date: 19 October 2023
Dear colleagues,
Today I’m pleased to share a significant and exciting announcement about the future of our company. Our shareholder, Deutsche Bahn (DB), has entered into an agreement with a company called I Squared Capital - a global infrastructure manager - to purchase the whole of the Arriva Group.
Under DB, we have grown our reputation as one of the leading providers of passenger transport across Europe and built a strong platform for future growth. Today’s announcement is an important step towards unlocking the next phase of our sustainable growth plan with support and investment from I Squared.
I Squared recognises the significant potential of our business and sees an opportunity to invest in us to expand and improve our services, as well as work with us to decarbonise our fleets to help shape a more sustainable future. Their agreement to purchase Arriva is a strong vote of confidence in our business and our growth potential, and I am confident we will benefit from their track record of investing in businesses to grow them for the long-term.
Importantly, I Squared recognises that our people are our greatest asset and will be central to developing the business in the years to come. As a result, all roles will transfer over on completion of the sale, which is expected at the latest in April 2024; our employment terms and conditions, as well as our various pension arrangements will be unchanged when the sale concludes, and our corporate headquarters will remain in the UK. What has made us strong as a group, a great place to work and a trusted partner to the many clients we work with across Europe will remain unchanged as a result of today’s announcement.
Over recent years, we have made significant progress toward our strategic goal to make Arriva a stronger, more competitive business for the long-term and I am proud of everything that has been achieved. Today, we are more client and customer focused than ever before; we have a more streamlined business, having sold our operations in Denmark, Portugal, Poland Bus, Serbia and Sweden; we operate a more disciplined approach to managing our performance; and we are becoming more commercially robust in our approach to tendering and contract management.
All of this has enabled us to return to operating profit following a challenging pandemic, while continuing to remain focused on putting customers at the heart of our services. But there is much more we can achieve together, and with the support of I Squared we can position Arriva for even greater long-term success.
I realise that you may have questions and reactions to today’s announcement and will be wondering what this means for you. Your local leaders and line managers will be able to support you with those questions, as well as provide updates as DB gets closer to completing the transaction next year, but I can assure you that the deal signed today includes the purchase of the entire Arriva Group, including all our operating business in 10 countries.
Until the transaction is completed, it remains business as usual for all of us, and we will continue to operate under the ownership of DB. We should all remain focused on implementing our 2023 business plans and providing our customers and clients with the high-quality services they have come to expect from us.
I, and the rest of the Management Board, feel very optimistic and I hope you are able to share that feeling today. We should all feel very excited about our future with I Squared.
Yours faithfully,
Mike Cooper
CEO Arriva Group

Fuel theft is getting out of hand now, probably be pay before filling up soon, and certainly many people aren't going to think twice about not paying for ULEZ or £5.25 to get across the river. It makes you wonder why we’ve always done fill up then pay at petrol stations when in the EU I think you always pay first. Very simple way to get around fuel theft Apparently the measure was to encourage customers to come into the shop to spend more

It would probably just make martyrs of them and whatever the rights and wrongs of their actions I don't think they're a danger to the public. One of the reasons for prison overcrowding in this country is that far more people are sent to prison compared to other European countries. Well I think the way to solve overcrowding in prisons is to bring back the death penalty. Say all the murderers in this country were executed, it would make space for people who should go to jail for lesser crimes like JSO protestors. It would also result in crime levels dropping as no one would want to commit murder when they know they could be executed. Quite frankly I think that a lot of crimes should be punished by death eg murder, rape, child abuse, trafficking, sexual/physical abuse etc The only way I would agree to a death penalty is the crime was committed on CCTV and evidence is there to show the person did it with possible DNA evidence. As the worst thing is that the wrong person gets executed which has happened over the years.

I guess the kids are using their compasses for something, just a shame it's not for their maths homework The usual tool is a spark park with the top piece of metal cut off. If challenged the answer is "I'm taking it to Halfords to get a replacement". Actually a lot of them is done by a stone, old pen with no ink or a knife. Some of them are identified on CCTV. Trouble is, that unless it is freshly reported it is hard for it get done with those responsible for CCTV on buses then having to go through hours of footage to get something which takes time even in fast frame. Unless it is known of the exact occurrence it is never ending task. I have noticed on train stations there is a hell of a lot of graffiti paint coming back again, something not seen since early 2000's and the 1980's

He should walk and cycle and take Public Transport as he expects Londoners to do. You can't preach something and then do the opposite yourself. The Mayor should set an example. In fairness there are security reasons that would prevent this. Livingstone and Johnson seems to have not been concerned about this.

That’s if they are only making a one way trip each day. A lot of people would need to make a return journey home so would be £52.50 per 5 day week Just part of Khan's plan to get people to stop driving. Bet he drives round London in a Mercedes No his pledge to deliver more money to TfL to fund his pathetic projects

Absolutely taking the p*ss when even the Dart Charge is only £2.50. £5.25 is definitely going too far. Another way to force people to give up driving… imagine going through the tunnel 5 days a week £26.25. Fake plates galore would end up happening. Just seen on the news the amount of people doing fuel thefts on a high as the price of fuel sky rocketed again.
