When Yellow Buses ceased trading, Morebus of course briefly ran the tendered 18/33/36 routes in Bournemouth before Xelabus won a six month tender. That expires in February and with Xelabus having now announced they will be closing the Bournemouth operations the same month, I’m guessing we’ll see those routes back in Morebus’ hands. Can’t think of any operators left locally who are likely to go for them really?

Like you I expect Morebus to pick up the work - assuming BCP continues to support the routes in their current form. Xelabus is also dropping its Bournemouth-based school work including a couple of closed contracts. Drivers will be offered work in Eastleigh. www.bournemouthecho.co.uk/news/23231705.xelagroup-withdrawing-yellow-buses-services-took/

Update on Bluestar:
- 140 drivers have already been recruited for the expanded operation from Sunday 19th February. Presumably most of these are drivers currently working with First who will transfer to Bluestar on the 19th.
- Six new routes will operate to replace services currently operated by First, a couple of existing Bluestar services will also be enhanced. First will continue to have a presence in Southampton on its X4/X5 Portsmouth routes which are operated out of Hoeford Depot. First's Portwood Garage in Southampton will close.
- Fourteen Volvo B7TL/Wright Eclipse Gemini originally with Go-Ahead London (LX06 registration) are being transferred to Bluestar from Go-Ahead North East for the expanded operation, Bluestar is not acquiring any vehicles from First. Four North East Volvos are also transferring to Morebus. The Volvos are former WVL 252-269 and were numbered 6901-6918 with GoNE, they were latterly used on Tyne & Wear Metro replacement between Heworth and South Shields whilst the line was doubled.

This is an interesting one as Transpora also say they are taking over the same services! Their website says from 18 March but their Facebook says from 20 February, so perhaps they are actually just running them from February and Morebus take over in March? Who knows! www.transporabus.co.uk/bournemouth-services
