What the hell has happened to the Central line? I used to use the central from around 1996 until 2006 when I moved south and became a 'big train' traveller. Since then I had barely used the CL only for short hops in the west end. But wow, I have had to use it for a number of weeks and it's an utter disgrace. Gaps between services at peak are ridiculously long, only 4 through shuttles both ways around the Hainault loop A DAY, some trains sound horrific, some look horrific, the seats are badly ripped, some have lost cushion altogether, graffiti on a lot of carriages and worse of all, water still leaks through the vents despite what looks like recent work been done to fix it. I'm not saying the CL was the perfect child out of London Underground's litter even back when I used it daily but for the love of god, have they just let it rot? I fully appreciate there is a so-called refurb is taking a lot out of it but services levels have dropped considerably. The Bakerloo line is in better condition and that hasn't had new trains or proper investment (like the centrals £800 million years ago) for over 40 years. I thought the lack of through trains on the Hainault loop is meant to exist since a few years back? The Bakerloo line isn't in a better condition, arguably it's worse - as much as I love and treasure that they're still going, they are completely life expired, some of them don't sound good & if it wern't for a Overground service running from Queens Park northwards, people there would suffer an erratic service as well. To focus on one thing, the lights are beginning to fail on several examples and they have now started plating over the lights by the carriage walk through doors.

To focus on one thing, the lights are beginning to fail on several examples and they have now started plating over the lights by the carriage walk through doors. The plated-over porthole lights are due to the gradual modification to LED lighting .

The Central Line has been operating a reduced timetable since 5th June. Unfortunately the way they have done it is simply to remove certain train diagrams from the Working Timetable, which leads to gaps in service and slows down the following trains due to the increased number of passengers attempting to alight and board at each station. I had hoped they would have had time to design and implement a new Working Timetable by now, but from what you say here this does not appear to have happened. tangytango.proboards.com/post/753034

There's similar problems with the Jubilee line (reliability problems) and the Piccadilly line. These new trains can't come soon enough The picc / jubilee combination can be painful (I use it almost everyday). While jubilee is great, Piccadilly is beyond awful. So much so that I prefer driving to work than use that abominable combination (plus sitting on a bus stuck in traffic)

Although I don't live near a station, I prefer to catch the Metropolitan line to Ickenham, walk to West Ruislip and get the central line to Central London. It's slower than the Met line from Uxbridge but I find the trains more comfortable than the Met line. In terms of large gaps I have not had much issues except today there were gaps of 6 minutes between Jubilee line trains

The central line is probably my favourite line because I grew up with it in the 00s and 10s even though I had the Metropolitan and Piccadilly lines nearby which I didn't use as often

Age old question I know but is there any further news on the first refurbished trains going into service on the Central line?

Iv seen an article just now in the Standard which says it's a £500m project and it will extend the lifespan by 15 to 20 years. It's good that they could see another 15 or so years to justify the work unlike the D Stock which was almost refurbished by the time the new order was confirmed.

D Stock refurbishment was scaled back from that originally proposed, little of the cab equipment was touched. Passenger saloon draught screens remained as original

1992 Stock motors are certainly being changed, along with many other things as part of this project.
