Surely they could of got a famous Londoner to do this campaign, rather than someone who lives in Switzerland, and is highly unlikely to ever use public transport!

Diageo are sponsoring this year's free travel and since Diageo also sponsor the McLaren F1 team it was always likely to be either Lewis Hamilton or Jenson Button doing the launch

There have been an odd couple of years I recall no sponsor was found. There is no way TfL would ask anyone to enforce fares with the volumes of people that you are carrying on NYE. Load em up get em away I thought the free Bus Fares were also subject to sponsorship.

From BBC London travel news this morning 08:35: -
A406 Southend Road North Circular Road Greater London, eastbound at A104 Woodford New Road A406 Greater London - Severe delays, queueing traffic and the main carriageway is closed, with traffic being routed around the junction and back on again, on A406 Southend Road (North Circular Road) eastbound at Waterwork's Corner, because of a bus fire and some smoke blowing across the road. Diversion in operation - via the roundabout. Congestion to Great Cambridge Interchange. Also affecting A104 Woodford New Road between A503 Forest Road and North Circular Road and A104 Woodford New Road between Chelmsfo
Wonder who/what that is?

Its defo a decker - one of my colleagues passed it in his car and filmed it on his phone. If I can upload the footage here (and I dont' know how or if I can) I will. It was a massive fire, the vehicle will be a write off.

www.guardian-series.co.uk/news/9408567.SOUTH_WOODFORD__Double_decker_catches_fire/?ref=laLooking at the pictures and where the pictures have been taken it's on the EB carriageway and the bus looks to be an Arriva ALX400 can't tell if it's a DLA or VLA but it's not on the official 123 routing so it could be a bus running dead to either Barkingside or Ilford depending on what route it was serving or intending to serve. If my assumptions are correct, with the bus running light then no passengers where on board and i pray the driver escaped unscathed.

The only other route I can think of is possibly a dead running 20 from EC??

It was a DLA, probably from AR, running dead on the 123... It was shown on BBC London this lunchtime... Carriageway is now re opened
