It seems to have returned to a situation that occurred a few years ago now at what I am understanding. The job centre is referring people that don't really want a job but need to do something short term to keep benefits. They spend a few days/weeks training to be a bus driver which they have no intention of passing. They then get sacked as they are no good and start from scratch with benefits timelines again. The number of unsuitable trainees has risen greatly of late. This I would suggest is that anybody who wants to do the job is doing it... the pool of local suitable workers is being exhausted. In addition pay and conditions for new starters has been driven low by tender competition - £9-£10 an hour for shift work! A lot of people just don't want to work such a job for such a low rate. Thus Abellio are recruiting in Poland. Don't blame them. Go-Ahead did it for the 453 (and Putney Garage I believe)

He Applied for this that and the other but got nowhere it's if your face fits in most cases!! In the end the enroled on a training course and became a fully qualified Painter and Decorator. Now he's raking in the work, as well as recently completeing his Electircal and Basic Plumbing certification and is planning on going for his Gas Safe as well. Sometimes i think i'm in the wrong job you know!

Whether the article is right or wrong, if I was an employer, I would employ foreigners before English people. I'm both English and Polish and have lived here all my life but people in this country don't want to work. We have so many people on benefits because they are lazy arses. At least the foreigners want to work and they would do any job without fuss. Nice to see a bit of support for the English in this post! A bit unfair there are plenty of ENGLISH people that want jobs but FOREIGNERS will work for peanuts! and employers exploit this.... Yes, employers do exploit the fact that people from other countries will work for less. But what else do you expect? The employers in this (and any other) country are concerned solely with their company's bottom line. They couldn't give a toss if the people working for them come from England, Poland, Latvia or Mars! Provided they have the ability to do the job and continue to do the job well their nationality matters not. The fact that often foreign workers will work for less is a bonus for employers because it increases profit margins - everyone is happy You also say somewhere else hereabouts that English people cannot live on the minimum wage and still pay the rent and their bills. Yet, the foreign workers doing the jobs a vast number of English people turn down still manage to pay the rent and pay their bills. What you mean to say is that the majority of English benefits scroungers cannot live in the way in which they have become accustomed on the minimum wage Sadly, like a lot of things in this country, it boils down to the fact that from 1997 until 2010 we were led by one of the worst Governments ever seen. Labour made living on benefits a 'career choice' and the vast number of foreign workers being employed in this country is testament to the fact that there is a huge number of people in this country that have spent the best part of 15 years living off the State and have no intention of going out to make their own living. Sadly, the next generation has seen their parents doing this and have also decided that they don't need to work for a living. I do have real, genuine fears about the future of this country because from where I'm sitting it doesn't look good at all
