(Thought it would be better to start a new thread)
Sad to see that the X5 has been revised to only operate between Harlow and Loughton only reaching Romford on a Saturday. Can only assume that they was getting low passenger numbers as the reason?
However searching the N&P section of the VOSA website brings up some interesting new applications;
Particularly interesting to me is the 31 from Maldon to Chemlsford on Monday to Saturday evenings which I can only assume is a Essex CC contract? Bit of a way from Loughton!

Yes these routes were won in the latest round of ECC contracts. Further east of the county Hedingham won quite a few contracts as well

Might be far to go, but at the end of the day it is work and for small outfits like TWH they need as much work as they can get.

Having seen the "facilities" at TWH's place, I don't give it long before problems come up with the Chelmsford stuff!

I assume by that and going by there address that this is TWH's 'depot'; maps.google.co.uk/maps?q=IG10+3TQ&hl=en&ll=51.646903,0.091453&spn=0.001122,0.00284&sll=51.64144,0.0555&sspn=0.008975,0.022724&t=w&hnear=IG10+3TQ,+United+Kingdom&z=19 I'd happily bet that they loose the 31 contract, Not in a bad way but judging by the state of their vehicles I can't see them being run Loughton - Chelmsford then do the duty then run back to Loughton Mon - Friday without a lot of breakdowns!

Also, the E20 Harlow-Stratford service should be operating from October, according to VOSA Bus Registration. Good that they have won some of the Brentwood area services. Lets hope they improve the presentation of some of their vehicles by then! The vehicles i've seen recently on the revised X5 service look rather tatty and have paper in the windscreen being used as route information (i'm getting sick of seeing that in the Harlow area lol). I took a photo of MPD X507WRG at Loughton Station on 10th July - www.flickr.com/photos/loughtonkid/7543525268/Surprised they will be operating the 31, quite a lot of dead milage on that! Also, a bit off topic, but Regal Busways won the 7/7A from Stansted Airport to Bishops Stortford, taking them into new territory.

That is the car park for the sports academy - TWH's "depot" is a little further along. That being said though, I moved my bus out some time ago as they were being.......shall we say, 'moved on' by the local council. To be fair, the reason for the council interest actually relates to when Lea Valley Buses ran out of the same yard. But mud sticks and so as far as I'm aware TWH either have moved from their "academy depot" or will have to do so soon.

We're TWH and Lea Valley buses the same company just trading under different names for whatever reason? And I think TWH need to learn a thing or 6 of ensign , I love to see independent small bus company's succeed like how Blue triangle did or even thorpes but it all starts with presentation the appearance of some of they're buses is appealing.

TWH seem to move depots quite a lot. As far as I know, they've been at Rainham, Collier Row, Waltham Abbey and now Loughton, and they were only formed in 2008! No they wern't the same company. TWH sold routes 255 and 555 to them along with at least two buses I think. After they failed, 255 went to Roadrunner, 555 back with TWH. TWH haven't been around for as long as established operators such as Ensignbus, so maybe in a few years they could improve. Also, as they will be starting quite a few routes later this year, it might help them become more established. I also think the area they operate in is quite difficult for bus operation, although I guess that could be said for a lot of areas. TWH were improving their buses image with their new blue and gold livery which I think is smart, although on a couple of buses they've failed to keep it looking smart, like one of their buses which had branding for the X5 - only half of it has been removed so it looks a bit tatty.

If anyone has seen the latest LSP bulletin, it looks like the upcoming E20 service to Stratford will run via Epping and Loughton. It was originally supposed to go via Waltham Abbey.
Personally I think the originally planned routing would be better. For a start, going via Epping and Loughton parallels the Central Line, which of course is a much better way to get to Stratford!
If they went via Waltham Abbey, I think they could have attracted more passengers. People in Waltham Abbey used to be able to go deeper into London with the 505 which went to Walthamstow. I think they would pick up more passengers at Waltham Abbey rather than Epping and Loughton.
Also, there might be some confusion caused with the route number. There is a 20 service in Epping (which goes from Ongar to Harlow), and of course the London route 20 in Loughton.

Having looked at the LSP document I see that the route is now intended to run express from Loughton via the M11 and A12 so no intermediate stops in Greater London. To be completely honest I will be very surprised if this service lasts for any sort of time. TWH are a small business and seem unable to sustain services for any period of time while they might incur a loss while building up patronage. There is no guarantee that this route will make any money even if you accept Westfield at Stratford is an attractive destination. Your comments about the Central Line providing a faster, more convenient service are well made. Further why would people from Harlow use a bus when they can go on the train direct to Stratford or with a simple change on the same platform at Tottenham Hale?

I'm guessing they may get a few old ladies with their free passes, but I can't imagine the service being a success.
