Done type training today. One thing in gonna say is Scanias drive lovely, so are Enviro 200s, even if both rattle a bit. The MAN Esteems are horrible and can't make up their mind of what gear to be in, and the baby solo is alright but not great to drive.

Solo's messed with my head at Chelmsford when I type trained there. I could grasp everything, including the B7RLE's with their long rear overhangs, on the first drive. The brakes and lack of front overhang on the Solo's however took some getting used to - was forever going up kerbs lol. Which Scania's do they have over there? My only complaint with ours is that they aren't blinded for the 15 or 277! Glad to hear all is going well though. Hope that stupid o clock start didn't hurt too much! The first few can be a bit of a shock to the system!

The first few can be a bit of a shock to the system! The stupidly early start is on Tuesday . They have Omnidekkas, Omnicity SD/DDs and Omnitowns, all are great to drive. I have route learning on the 233 tomorrow, not that i actually need it

I've heard the pedals on the Omnitowns are angled too high making it uncomfortable for the foot??

I've heard the pedals on the Omnitowns are angled too high making it uncomfortable for the foot?? We had Tridents with pedals like that, the 03 reg PDLs were very uncomfortable and hurt your knees a bit after prolonged driving. If you get a bus like that it's best to shake your legs and walk about between each journey.

It all depends on how you sit, i prefer to be completely upright and the pedals are fine, but others who sit more laid back dont like them. Anyway today I had 184 for my first half (04:50 sign on, yawn), a decent bus with decent speed along the M25 (yes the light run is via the M25 from MB to Swanley), anyway came off 11 late cause of traffic for my lunch break at 09:22, not really lunch but hey ho, more breakfast break. I then had 184 for my 2nd half, also a decent bus but it rattled abit more. Those mini e200s are lovely to drive though.

The thing I'm pleased to see is that your first day in service was (by the look of it!) un eventful. What's in store for the rest of the week? Are you with a mentor?

I have my mentor with me tomorrow, more respectable duty of 08:56 till 16:57. I then have Thursday off, then on the road on my own from Friday on wards for a week of Middles which is nice. Plus No one uses cash...what a lot of rubbish, took £26.20 today.

Sounds like a nice first day - at least you didn't have to contend with sudden turns and angry passengers! I do slightly envy your opportunity to drive a MAN bus, I'd love to have a go on one! Congratulations for making it, please do keep us updated with your progress!

Congratulations for making it, please do keep us updated with your progress! The MANs are horrible to drive, they cannot make their sodding mind up what gear they want to be in, best just to use kickdown at all points in them cause it gives a smoother ride lol, then when stopping they jult like hell. Theres no drivers at MB that like them. I have market day tomorrow on the 233 which will give me turns, most i ran late today was 11 mins, which suppose isnt too bad, one journey i was bang on time the whole way. How did you find the school kids? and good to hear you are doing well The Cleave Park, Chis & Sid and Hurstmere kids this morning were perfectly behaved, they all even thanked me when they got off, which was nice.

Yeah duties like that are way better. I personally prefer lates - nice 15:09 til 00:34 on the 205 tonight.

If you're having Thursday off, and you're on 233s generally Jay, it might be a good thing...it's Eltham Christmas lights switch on day. It is chaos every year. 2013 will be no different...! Glad all is going well. If I spot you on the 233s, I will wave
