Any bus operating out of, on loan to/from and bearing the code of Helloway garage. That said, the stuff above (bar the stuff about HT) I don't actively avoid, and if I had to I would catch I'm curious to know why you have such an aversion to Hollow... uh, I mean Helloway

Plus more importantly, they nicked VW1216, PAs (one of my favourite Metroline garage) best VW, and have allocated 07 reg Euro IV buses to a route which contractually was awarded with and should run with Euro V 61-reg WTA spec buses.

Can't really blame Holloway Bus Garage for that...that's more of the management's fault.

Before I state mine, I'd like to say that I don't purposely avoid any of the following: NBfL's - don't like nothing about them except the ride Abellio's B7TL's (despite them having my favourite gearbox) - sound clapped out and are gutless BN's & N's 54 reg VLA's - gutless pieces of rubbish. At least they are ok comfort wise BN's 05 reg VLA's - gutless pieces of rubbish. At least they are ok comfort wise Enviro 200's on Allison pre Euro VI - find them so boring on Allison, at least Euro VI seems to have made them more interesting Euro V Enviro 400H's - I find the motor noise dreadfully boring and that's if the bus is going fast enough to reach that point The 109 - seems to attract the most horrid people from Lambeth & Croydon and is such a slog The 157 - just too unreliable. I've suffered this route for so long N's 54regs aren't too bad! Once N get to settle in in a few weeks it'll be similar enough to VLA 1-20! They are poor when compared to the brilliant & powerful VLA1-73.

I'm curious to know why you have such an aversion to Hollow... uh, I mean Helloway A route which runs from Friern Barnet to London Bridge, which has my least favourite number. Plus more importantly, they nicked VW1216, PAs (one of my favourite Metroline garage) best VW, and have allocated 07 reg Euro IV buses to a route which contractually was awarded with and should run with Euro V 61-reg WTA spec buses. I was expecting boring reasons such as 'There's a consistently bad service on HT routes' or 'The HT buses are poorly maintained'! This is something The 43 did get on my nerves whilst living in HT territory, due to driver changes every time I took the route (but can't really help that)... but otherwise, apart from a few packed buses, it's always been reliable. Living on the 134 and 271 was almost never problematic - I think I only got curtailed twice, or three times, over the course of last year whilst on a 134, and never had to wait more than 5 minutes for one. 271s always came just in time after I did shopping in Holloway. Yeah, I've grown fond of HT over the last year Now this year I'll get to know V's NBfL a lot better... Hmm... it does make sense for the 43 to gain a full allocation of one type of bus (though there's still good ol' VPs and TPs as we speak...), and seeing as the 43 is a lot higher-profile than the 297, I guess the 43 got the long straw. It's Metroline, it's what they do best. Anything special about VW1216?

Stuff I dislike, but don't deliberately avoid:
Route 120 - The route with crowding, slowness and general previous bad experiences when I was younger. Even though it has the the ADEs in Hounslow (which are better than SPs imo), which leads to: Scania Omnicity Double Decker* - I like a smooth ride, where I won't be vibrated to shake other things onto my mind. This bus doesn't allow any of that. Then again, I do take them every day, which leads me to appreciate what they are good at, going quickly, and being on the 111/N9. Also, the recent London United refurbishments are good, also leading partly to: Route E3 PM Peak - The buses from my school are generally excessively crowded, excessively hot, excessively smelly from an all boy's school. You usually found odd stuff after Acton from what happened previously, for example unspecified solidified white-clear liquid (Metroline West) (any suggestions?), leftover jeans (London United), half eaten post it notes (Metroline West), the usual litter. You guys probably know this from what I've said previously though!
Route 10 Shopping hours westbound & Route 148 - full of shoppers et al, combined with it being an NBfL causes excessive heat, which does mean that I use viable alternatives are there just in case.
Normal Route 25s on Tube Strike Day: Overcrowding. Take the extras! They are crowded as well, but the atmosphere seems better on the extras than on the normal buses...
Metroline - nah, I'm not that extreme!
*SELs of Metroline are not any better, if not, worse imo, due to hard seats, hard suspension, body rattling, leading to an uncomfortable ride overall.
If I have to take any of them, then I'll do so. If I can get on, that is, in the terms of the 25! These are clearly my opinion from experience, and people will definitely differ.

Only the "custom made for London" oven bus and the routes it runs on. I don't avoid any routes in London (apart from above) because I'm usually only trying to use them to go somewhere. I'm one of those funny people who can usually see some merit in any bus route regardless of what runs it. There is always something new to see or people to watch. Even odd routes like the 389 or the W10 have their merits and characters and are worth riding on at least once.

Hmm...I'd say the 54 reg are just as powerful. Maybe even more powerful. But the 04 reg are my favorite's, simply because of the Voith gearbox

Any bus serving a large school community between 3-4 I try to avoid Crystal Palace around those time because the 417 is unbearable or uncatchable as it passes so many schools. The other route I tend to avoid is the 159 for going to Brixton, for the uncomfortable seats and mainly because there is too high a risk of it waiting at Telford Avenue for a driver change while several other routes pass by. But with it being such a busy corridor it is easy to just wait for the next one.

The HTP/HTL on the 388 that stray occasionally on the 212, the leg room is criminal. Although the space downstairs is good for prams/wheelchairs.
When going long distances across London I tend to avoid single deck routes, as the views can be restricted, especially places I have not been.

Some of you probably know by now my extreme hate for the Optare Versa, but I have no option, I'm lumbered with them on the 62 I dislike most routes operated by BE as their service barely ever leaves me leaving a bus happy I prefer the Versas over the Enviro 200s, it's just a shame they're not used more on the 366 on my regular commute to/from Beckton depot. I also try to avoid the 5 at most times of the day, always manage to get a seat on the 387 and there's no point even attempting to get a 5 before 10am to Barking as they always pass by full

Not ZF But still, IIRC, 249's 10m VLAs (ranging around 100-128) were similar to 74-78. (Note, 11x-128 are now with 370 at GY)

Route 35 and it's clapped out E400s. Don't mind the route when B7TLs are on it. I don't really avoid the route as such, unless a 37 or 45 turn up alongside it
