He won't be once the management see that episode!! You don't shout and yell at passengers and drivers like that no matter what the provocation is. Plain unacceptable and doesn't say much for his underlying temperament. Sadly he probably played right into the producers hands who no doubt encouraged him. I understand the point you're making but post test there was merely a fixed camera in the cab recording what he did. I accept the producers will have selected the "juicy bits" for transmission but they weren't there forcing him to shout, yell and berate people.

I'm just catching up with the first half of the programme. Some of the comments from the instructors are priceless "you're going to tell me that road hump just jumped out into the road" "trust me luv you don't want to be on here" to someone who sticks their hand out for a trainer bus. "He's a nice chap, he buys me chocolate bars. Doesn't work!" about Yas. "You can't turn right, you can't turn right, directions aren't your strong point" You clearly have to have a certain temperament to be an instructor. I'm sure I recognise the chap training Yas in North London. Might have worked on one of my local Arriva run routes at some point. Would I be correct in guessing that the incident where the car comes round that tight bend on completely the wrong side of the road is near Reeves Corner in Croydon? Yeah it's just up the road from Reeves Corner where Cuthbert Road meets Pitlake.

I believe I saw the blonde woman on this show today driving the 466 on a DW44 that was curtailed to Addiscombe Road, but I'm not sure as on the show it clearly shows she was at N but was driving around the Croydon Area or it could be just some random blonde woman who just looks alike, if anyone drives at TC let me know.

I saw a similar looking lady on the 466 as well last Tuesday. She went straight in and out of Addington Village while the other 466 was parked at the stand.

REMINDER - on ITV1 at 2030 this evening for the second episode featuring Arriva London. Also on ITV+1 later on. I can hear the excitement building in Welling already.

There seem to be quite a few LTs in the background along with some Sapphire buses. Are these meant to be stored there?

It is common practice for Arriva London South vehicles to be stored for any number of reasons. The Sapphire buses might of been at DT as their was various shots of Plaxton Pointer I (1) Darts which may have been withdrawn.

Well done to Claire for passing though I've not seen her driving the 2. I'll have to look out for her lol.
Also, the show made a mistake - the 2 doesn't run from Brixton to Marylebone but from Norwood Garage to Marylebone.
And yes 'snoggle', I was frothing from the mouth of the screenshots of Brixton lool.

This episode was quite good as it showed quite a few things regarding on what it really takes to pass the bus driver test, especially when watching Manuel's clips. He had many problems though including not checking the mirrors, getting too close to the kerb and brushing the trees, going slightly fast at times and not reading the hazards such as vehicles coming out of the side road. Going back to my days when I was a learner, it used to bother me when the instructor kept telling me to watch out for the vehicles coming out in front but I used to argue back telling him that they should be looking out for me as I'm driving the bigger vehicle. Its probably that what I found hard to come to terms with which is probably why I failed my test first time around I eventually passed on my second test but I didn't need any bananas to help me out I seem to remember being really focused in the task in hand. I was worried that Manuel failed his theory test. It was also interesting about the inspection check as I don't recall checking so many things like whether the doors would have some kind of sensor to stop passengers from getting trapped in the doors. My inspection check just involved checking the wheels and registration plate Once I passed my test then I was taught the rest although I don't recall having a checklist! Also, I was very pleased about Claire passing. Almost shed a tear lol She made me laugh when she went past the stop! At least now the passengers know that drivers don't deliberately drive pass bus stops. Sometimes they just don't see it

After a week in service I haven't knowingly missed a stop yet, though after finishing my shift and telling my self that my shift was over (thank God for that) Anyhow, I ended up missing my last turn-around where I was supposed to run dead back to garage.....so there I go.... off down the road wondering where to turn around, oops Quick blind change and out of service and a crawl back to re-find my line of route.....so yeah mistakes come easy when your new to the game...I guess this is the time to get those mistakes out of the way. GJ to Claire and Gopal
