Wikipedia (most reliable source in the world, I know) offers slightly different lengths. N9 is 'only' 16 miles, N89 is 21 miles, N199 is unspecified (should be ~ 22 miles), X26 is 23.75 miles. To be fair to Mr Munster, he does say "The miles/km figures have been measured by myself, so some may be slightly adrift.", which is perfectly reasonable of him on his great site. He told me this himself he measures it. N199 is probably 22 miles like you stated. I predicted it as 22-23 miles at least.

Just been looking to see if any Spider Maps have been updated to reflect the new night bus services. Bromley North has a new map which will last precisely one week. tfl.gov.uk/cdn/static/cms/documents/bus-route-maps/bromley-north-and-market-square-120915.pdfIt's dated 12 Sept and shows the N199. It also lists the 352 and 354 as M-S only but, of course, they become daily next weekend hence the 7 day life of this map!! Also worth noting that 24 hour bus routes show "Daily" now (as per the photos of various bus stop plates) and also the "night owl" appearing in route lists for routes then run off the map and service Tube Stations that would have gained the Night Tube service if it had started on time.

I think the 'Ways to Pay' box is poorly timed, should of been introduced around the time buses became cashless however its presence on spider maps is still appreciated. It's a shame the 352 and 354 Sunday service is not included whilst it's date of introduction has been confirmed for a short while now, yet the Night tube (which still has no actual date of introduction) has all its data available. And here's me thinking this was a bus map...

Oh dear! Can't say I'm surprised given the absolute shambles that exists with non changed maps and bus stop tiles.

He told me this himself he measures it. N199 is probably 22 miles like you stated. I predicted it as 22-23 miles at least. Just mapped the route on Map My Ride in one direction only, from Trafalgar Square to St. Mary Cray and it came up as 21.69 miles (going the right way round roundabouts, town centres etc). Took me a good while as TfL haven't put the N199 on their maps yet and reading between the 208, 199, the old N47 and reading Mr. Munsters directions at the same time just to be doubly sure made the job a bit long.....

I wouldn't underestimate the role. It's interesting, varied and you'll soon find there's more than enough to keep you busy, constantly. Dealing with numbers is one part of it - you also spend a fair amount of time out of the office on site visits and meeting with internal and external stakeholders. That's on top of tranche reviews, investigating/addressing capacity issues and any larger scale schemes that arise, area reviews and the Night Tube changes for example. It's an amazing role and a fantastic team to work in. Best of luck to anyone who goes for it!

It's an amazing role and a fantastic team to work in. Best of luck to anyone who goes for it! Oh I'm not underestimating the role. For once I am being a bit boastful about my own capabilities and track record - not something I do very often. Any job has its challenges but I've done plenty of interesting stuff over the years and I scored very near the top end of the distribution on verbal and numerical reasoning when assessed at the next management level up. The assessors were rather gobsmacked that I got the scores I did as they're pretty exceptional. I don't have much issue with numbers and being able to identify what they may be saying (depending on other sources of info / detail / correlation, of course, if you want a wider understanding). Bus journeys don't increase for the sake of it - there are other factors in play. Do I assume, given your positive write up, that this is what you do / did for a living in between driving buses?

A few of the bus spider maps for areas served by route 222 have been updated to the new style in account of the recent changes. Interesting to note that the map for Hounslow West shows the H32 as being a 24-hour weekend route even though the night weekend element hasn't been implemented yet. tfl.gov.uk/cdn/static/cms/documents/bus-route-maps/hounslowwest-a4-0815.pdfTo be honest I'm not a fan of the 24-hour weekend routes being depicted as dashed lines... in the case of the 154 it could be mistaken as a tram route or hail-and-ride on first glance I agree with dashed lines for these weekend night routes on night bus maps though.

Lewisham Centre Bus Stop U & V both have N199 tiles, this will cause confusion, resulting in people missing their bus because of standing at the wrong stop.
