Been suggested that the vibrations from trains could effect the building? Don't know how true that is but it is not in imminent danger of collapsing.

I can understand the anger of residents, but it's always the case that masked individuals come from nowhere and start something off, same thing happened in 2011. There's a correlation between Tory governments and riots. Something tells me high temperatures, lack of answers will set stuff off over the weekend. Express reports a small fire in a block of flats in Tarling Street, E1 (Wapping / Shadwell), decking, but put out. Our housing situation has to be reviewed. Divert the money for foreign aid back to those in UK who need it. Theresa is finished, I think this will kill off her political career. What amazed me most is how sloppy shoulders our mayor has been, does he not have the last say on planning in London? Well I think that's just the way he expresses himself but I have more respect for him than Maybot at the minute. Theresa kind of tiptoed round everything, and scurried away in her motorcade. She's admitted things "were not good enough" but there's no passion in her voice. It's like listening to Roy Hodgson at the end of a lacklustre draw we should have one in the Euro's or something Sadly Khan is little more than a Director of Football so may not have enough say over what happens at the Club Still, Grenfell has delayed the inevitable hook-up with the DUP, so things will be interesting when they start the Brexit negotiations with not much of a Government, especially if the DUP lot wanted to Remain rather than leave I wonder if they will leave it as a monument to what happened, or flatten it within days, like what happened to the burned-out wreck of CarpetRight in Tottenham after the riots? It does make you stop and think. Apparently it is on the point of collapse due to all the water that was pumped into it

Apparently it is on the point of collapse due to all the water that was pumped into it I'd be very surprised if either option is taken - I think leaving it there as it is may incite further anger within the community whilst I don't see being demolished anytime soon as the investigation has only just began. I believe they've searched every floor but I wonder if further searches may need to be done to absolutely make sure that all bodies have been accounted for. Last statement I heard on the building itself is that it's still structurally safe but that could easily change in the days ahead.

I drove past Grenfell Tower today on the Westway and it is such a powerful image, against the night sky, where all the other blocks have lights on it just stands there. It was so eerie. The loss of life is terrible, but in the papers it seems Grenfell is May's undoing as there are plans to ditch her as PM within the Tories as infighting begins. I see what you mean but it seems the place is unsafe as weakened by the fire and all the water to put it out. I just hope survivors get properly looked after.

I was in two minds as to whether to pass nearby on the tube but with it being shut, that was a no go. I did see it in the distance from a 452 as I went from Kensal Rise to Kensington and absolutely agree with you - it's a powerful image among the skyline. May indeed has to go - I gave her until Christmas after the election result but I reckon she might now be gone by time autumn comes around.

I think we can be quite sure that neither option will be taken, the whole block will have to be thoroughly searched for victims and clues as to what exactly happened and obviously that is going to take some considerable time. Eventually the block will have to be demolished bit by bit and that will be a complex task. As I understand it the tower is not in danger of collapsing, if it were there would be a large exclusion zone around it, although some sections need to be made safe before the search can begin.

I've seen it from Westway and it certainly is a chilling sight. As for Mrs May she can be blamed for a lot of things but not this. To use a political cliche she "inherited this mess" as the Tories have presided over years of cuts to councils, and in the UK we like image rather than substance. Kensington & Chelsea is like a tooth that looks good, but is rotten inside. The disparity between rich and poor can be seen in about 800 yards of road between Holland Park and North Ken, before the Borough merges into its downmarket neighbour, Brent, and the more shabby end of Westminster near Queen's Park. The councils have started running bits of previous departments as if they are commercial units, usually prior to sell-off (my Mrs was at Camden's Commercial Waste operation which ran as a business, before being sold to one this year, and in Haringey we have Homes for Haringey which seems separate from the Council, and back in Hounslow, it was Hounslow Homes etc.) KCTMO was an arms-length firm brought in by RBKC to run Grenfell Tower, who to save a few bob used substandard materials to tart up the Tower, but at the time they had done that within the framework of legislation from the Tories that allowed it, so it's going to be hard to fight them in court. I don't want to see them wriggle out of a court trial like Bill Cosby but I think May should go because of the stilted response and what seems to be lack of care. She struggled like a W7 bus on Muswell Hill but she was not a popular politician like Cameron or Blair was. She's the female equivalent of Gordon Brown, and she more or less won by default after the Brexit fall-out instigated by Bojo of 149 FreeBus fame. You're not a winner of Britain's Got Talent if you only won because the other act's dog was ill I wonder if the DUP still want to sign the contract? It's like buying a knackered car through a very bad Car Finance firm at the minute. Let's see what this week brings. Something tells me more issues as the Grenfell matter is still not dealt with properly. May giving 5 mil to RBKC may not guarantee the residents will get the money in the end. We all know charity money for the Third World ends up in the Chugger's pocket If she said the Government would pay a certain amount into the bank account of each resident that suffered that would be a more acceptable thing IMHO

Been suggested that the vibrations from trains could effect the building? Don't know how true that is but it is not in imminent danger of collapsing. Apparently the issue was debris falling onto the track due to the weakening structure. I felt it was odd that on Friday evening a lady was complaining on TV about hidden information as her friend could see several body bags from the train, and then the next day the Fire Brigade request the trains to be suspended... Start the conspiracy thread.

I don't blame her for the fire but her response was extremely poor - she is certainly to blame for that. The blame for the fire rests with a number of people IMO - the council, the owner of the block, the refurbishment company (who have so far got little criticism) and numerous Labour & Tory governments who failed to take fire safety seriously but in particular, Thatcher who started of this business of selling off council homes and beginning the decline of the rest of the council stock. One particular question I'd like answered during this investigation but I don't think it will be asked is why was cladding prioritised over fitting of fire safety equipment. I'd also like to see the exact breakdown of the £8.2m quoted for the refurbishment and what it was spent on as well - maybe local authorities will stop worrying about appearance and prioritise safety above all else!

Start the conspiracy thread. There are so many conspiracy theories doing the rounds on social media it's ridiculous, the railway line was supposed to reopen this afternoon but it hasn't so that will no doubt give those behind such theories more ammunition. I don't know why LU or the fire brigade can't just say why it's had to be closed and put an end to this nonsense.

To be honest all this furore over Mrs May and Mr Corbyn is just detracting from the real issues. I agree that the blame for this catastrophe probably rests with numerous individuals going back years and not with any present day politicians of any persuasion. The main priorities are getting people rehoused and ensuring that this cannot happen again and if that means spending vast sums of money removing cladding from tower blocks then so be it. The lack of support from the council has been appalling with volunteers left to deal with the relief operation. Sadiq Khan has intimated that old tower blocks could be demolished www.telegraph.co.uk/news/2017/06/18/tower-blocks-could-torn-sadiq-khan/

Two politicians from opposite parties, Sadiq Kahn & Sayed Javid, are saying tower blocks could be demolished. Sadiq Kahn specifically said: "The greatest legacy of this tragedy may well end up being the skyline of our towns and cities.
"Nowadays, we would not dream of building towers to the standards of the 1970s, but their inhabitants still have to live with that legacy.
"It may well be the defining outcome of this tragedy that the worst mistakes of the 1960s and 1970s are systematically torn down"So, as I expected, the type of building is being used as a scapegoat rather than the actual factors that caused the fire which I listed in the post above which will inevitably allow all those at fault to get away with it IMO. Here's my next prediction - more social cleansing will happen if they decide to demolish tower blocks by building less homes than the 120 housed in the block and which most will not be affordable ones either just like what happens in practically every part of London. The result is this community gets broken up with people dumped in areas they no one or aren't acclimatised to. I think Sadiq needs to remember that after the wall, Britain had one of the worst housing crisis's of all time and there was a shortage of steel, brick & wood which is why concrete was plumped for. I also believe concrete tower blocks were championed by Labour in the 50's so I think he needs to check history and see why those decisions are taken. He also needs to remember that some concrete tower blocks are now Grade II listed so good luck in tearing them down
