There are a lot of Suggestions for my (not-so-anymore) beloved 367. The timetable is very, very loose so most of these will not be a problem. The frequency is every 25 minutes so these will be reliable as well. 1.The most obvious one is if going to Bromley to change at East Croydon for the 119 (It saves a good 50 mins) 2. The Multiple Interchanges with the Tramlink all around the route These are; West Croydon/East Croydon/Addiscombe/Blackhorse Lane - Elmers End/Beckenham, NOTE: If alighting at Blackhorse lane you will have to walk a bit fast to get the 367 from the Parkview Road Stop. 3. The 289 from Addiscombe - Elmers End where you'll miss a good 20 mins of the route 4. The 162 is faster from Beckenham to Bromley and lest we forget 227. 5. The 358 from Elmers End Green will save you 20 mins as well. Thus the 367 is now USELESS thanks to Abellio which is why I want it to return to a normal service at a different company. Rant Over. I've only just realised the 367 runs at x25min intervals, is this a temporary measure?
The route really isn't designed for end to end journeys, is the service worse under Abellio?

It's interesting to see this thread, as it's reminded me of a side project I was considering doing at one point.
The basic idea was to create a standardised directness/swiftness index of bus routes - perhaps it's best to illustrate this with an example, so consider the 367 (as it's being discussed quite a lot on here recently). Two people would start at one end of the route (let's pick West Croydon Bus Station stop B1) at 1200 on a weekday. One would board the first 367 to leave West Croydon (timetabled 1221) and ride it right the way to the final bus stop (Bromley North station). The other would take the fastest route to that final bus stop, which may or may not involve taking the 367 at some point (I believe this to be tram to Beckenham Junction, Southeastern to Shortlands, 227 bus to Bromley North). Both would start stopwatches at the same time - when the 367 closes its doors at West Croydon, and both would stop their stopwatches when they arrive at the final bus stop.
The final index would be the alternative route time expressed as a percentage of the bus route time. It'd be interesting to compare such routes as the 4 and the S4, for example...

Till 2019 - due to the double run / loop in Canary Wharf, routes 135, 277 and D7 make for an interesting case in both directions. One can get down at West India avenue or Canary Wharf, cross the road to the “other” west India avenue or Canary Wharf stop, and wait for the bus to complete its loop
For 135, it’s possible to simply walk from the Crossharbour Asda (1st stop) till mudchute (or take the 277) and then wait for the 135 to complete its loop around the isle of dogs (if you are lucky, you might even get the previous 135!). Similarly one can get the d6 from cross harbour Asda till limehouse Burdett road and get the previous 135 (although this one can be very tight)

For the Rs that double run via Orpington Station, you can get off at the alighting point and then run up to corresponding stop - but I'm sure the driver will think you're a nutter I bet a similar stunt is possible during the double run via Orpington High Street, but I need more figuring out here...

Towards Beckton Station: you can get off the 366 at Sainsbury's East Beckton, walk along the A13 and Woolwich Manor Way to Beckton Station. There is also the option of getting the 173, but I normally get off the 366 due to bad traffic conditions and the same woes do affect the 173 as well so often end up walking to Beckton. Whether this example of getting off a bus & meeting it at its terminus qualifies to this thread, you tell me! You can also get off the Loxford Youth Centre stop Redbridge bound on the 366, walk through the path in-between the allotments and board the same bus on Eton Road. This was only found out when I was walking outright; haven't done it personally but it is possible. Route 300: if you miss the 101/104/474 southbound at Newham Town Hall, as well as the 300; simply walk down High Street South to the Vicarage Lane bus stop. A decent walking pace will see you catch the same bus you missed. This can only be done during the day though, good luck if you want to try this at night!! Towards East Ham Station: if you get off at Kingsford Way on the 300, simply walk down to the Tollgate Road bus stop on Woolwich Manor Way to catch the same bus. This can be done at day or night (latter with a past walking pace); and with live changeovers taking place at Beckton bus station, feel free to doddle as much as you like!

Another one: at what I believe is Apex Corner, on 107, get off at this stop just before the junction, survive crossing the whole thing somehow - how I'm not sure as that's a busy road - and go to the stop across. You get to skip the whole Borehamwood and will without a doubt get a 107 muuuch earlier. 614 does perform this maneuver and that's how I've realised 107 is indeed as indirect as I'd thought! However not tested this so dunno if this is actually possible, I mean imagine trying to cross a road as busy as say, North Circ 🤔

If you mean catching a 292 into Edgware, you can get off the 107 after Stirling Corner and cross the less busy Barnet Lane with it’s pedestrian crossing to catch the 292 on the opposite side into Edgware. It probably is faster (depending on traffic) and wait at Edgware for the 107 you left to arrive

I once got off a Chislehurst bound N136 on Whitehall to board a 53 in an attempt to get to Lewisham quicker. Had a 10 minute wait in New Cross Gate and the same N136 picked me up. Sometimes the timings work so a 321 or N21 turns up first but no such luck on that occasion.
Before the N136 was cut to x30, you could let one go at Trafalgar Square, jump on a 53 and pick up the N136 that was 20 minutes ahead at New Cross Gate.
All of the routes from Trafalgar Square to Lewisham are rather roundabout, but this isn't a bad thing as it means Lewisham has an impressive amount of links at night!

On the E5, you could get off at the Gregory Road bus stop and walk directly down Havelock Road. The bus serve the Havelock Estate and the drivers will also change over. Normally, the bus would take 1-2 mins, but sometimes the drivers take 10-15 mins to change over:( You won't even get a funny look from the driver because it will be a different one, although some of the passengers may give u a weird look.

Another one, this for D8. From Stratford to Crossharbour, one can get down at the Bow Flyover bus stop, turn left and take a fast walk (run!) to the stop on Hancock Road while the bus goes through Bow Rounadbout, Bromley High Street and the 2nd run arond Bow Roundabout

What does the OP define as later? It is possible to get off the 187 (Finchley Road 02 Centre) or the 224 (St. Raphael's) at the Abbey Road stop beside Asda Park Royal and then run to the other side of Asda and get back on at the Park Royal Asda/Western Road stop. The 440 (Chiswick Power Road) runs around the back of Asda in the same way but does not serve the Abbey Road stop.

G1 to 319 at Clapham Junction, 319 back to G1 at Wandsworth Common or Streatham St Leonard's Church.
39 to 37 at Wandsworth, back to 39 at Putney Hill... similarly with the 170 but at Putney Heath/Tibbets Corner
