So Leon Daniels goes and then Uber loses its licence. Surely that’s just a coincidence 😉

I'm 50/50 over this - whilst the buses could get a unexpected boost which is very much welcome, Uber isn't all bad. All the times me and my family used it, we've had no issues whatsoever - turn up on time, driver behaved professionally and the cost was reasonable.
I really hope though that this doesn't give a boost to black cabs rather than buses - it's a shame we're not getting of them instead with their attitude.

My initial thought is surely TfL have a massive conflict of interest here? How can they make an impartial judgment on something that competes directly with their bus services?
I suspect there will be a public outcry over this and a protracted legal battle.

Oh dear. This isn't going to go down well with Joe Public. Hope their legal team is prepared for some real nastiness from Uber legal team. What exactly have they been doing ? Can't help but feel a bit pleased, but will also mean hardship for lots of Uber drivers...

Even though this might be good for some people, other people especially the uber drivers are going to be at a huge disadvantage now. I know a lot of them don't carry this out as a full time job but the money was probably used to help make ends meet.

How will it work for Uber outside of London? For example if somebody is in Milton Keynes wanting to travel to London can Uber: Milton Keyes still drive them 'into town'?

To put in context. #Uber is trending on twitter. The general thrust is young people complaining about it. I've read some tweets saying "Back to the night bus then"
Not a done deal, because Uber will throw all they've got at TfL to smear them in crap or find something amiss with legal process.
Just goes to show how integral Uber has become in the day to day lives of many Londoners and beyond.
Edit - I would expect Uber to produce evidence to suggest TfL are not considering safety, also would expect them to say in court how TfL are reducing night buses , and now cancelling Uber, to out more people on night tube, more money for TfL , licence cancelled more for financial reasons etc etc

Having used them a few times via friends accounts, they seem ok but then I'm not a great fan of them or private hire drivers in general, I don't mind the black cabs. If you think about it us drivers have to constantly react when these idiots can't drive properly, don't use their mirrors or indicators when changing lanes and often not planning ahead. Wednesday night I was unusually driving the 109 and as I was waiting at the traffic lights at the junctions with St Matthews Church and Brixton Hill leading onto Brixton Road towards Brixton, one PCO driver in a Prius, came out of that road on the one way system to turn right on Brixton Road outside the Electric / Town Hall, when he went to drive onto the opposite carriageway, now come on its clearly obvious where he should be going and there's even an arrow on a post indicating what side of the island he must go. I can't say whether he was an uber but unfortunately all these antics and the rape claims have all more or less been subjected towards Uber.

I would be very surprised if they don't win their appeal infact I'd even put a bet on it , 40000 Driver's effectively out of work ? I Give it a Month maximum if it even happens .

Use of Greyball - see the official TfL statement: pbs.twimg.com/media/DKUeri0W0AAUK8L?format=jpg&name=large - is a pretty big deal in itself. I use Uber, love the app, convenience, price transparency etc but I don’t like their approach to sidestepping and obstructing regulators. They must play by the rules. Consumers come second to legal compliance. Basic rule of running a business. Uber thought they were above the law.
