Well,if they are going to improve, then they should be allowed to continue,as link shows above they have They seem to have admitted to being wrong in the past, and consequently seem to be paying TfLs costs. The 15 month probabationary ruling seems to imply not fit enough to get normal 5 year licence, and could find it not renewed.

Surprised that this still hasn't been mentioned here already, but Uber loses their license to operate in London yet again.

Whilst the decision doesn't particularly bother me given I'm not a regular user (I did get an Uber with people last night ironically), it's hardly going to solve the issue of taxi vs uber vs local minicab especially when rivals to Uber will just fill the gap and we'll back here in a few years time when cabbies get peed off over everything. Most people I know use Uber and far more regularly than me yet haven't had anything happen to them - it's just more judging books by covers just like what happened with minicabs many years ago and it's likely the taxi brigade stoking this up

Uber plan to use facial recognition to win back their license. We’ll see how well this experimental technology plays out in court...

There will be an inevitable appeal so it's likely to drag on for sometime yet, it all smacks of a stitch up to me. On the relatively few occasions I've used uber, in London and elsewhere, I've never had any problems and I don't know anybody else who has. If people want to pay more for black cabs that's up to them.

Remember this is just uber license there are hundreds of other apps which are legal and can be used, uber drivers themselves are not obliged to drive exclusively for them so during different times of day theyll do other apps for private hire. I read posts on Facebook people happy that there wont be traffic anymore...lol.

As I keep bleating on about it, traffic planners have no clue how to manage traffic in London and make extremely safe decisions that bring almost no benefit to anyone outside of cyclists - something far more radical and controversial needs to happen to significantly reduce congestion.

It's like they don't expect to see competition when of course there will invariably be competition and enterprise in a capitalist society.

*Disclaimer I have never used a Uber but these are my personal views as a car driver*
Over the last few years Uber drivers have become a right pain! There are just too many and the standard of driving is just shocking. They are always in a rush to get the next fare, stop anywhere they like just to make sure the passenger is happy and get a 5 star feedback. Only on Saturday was I over taken by a Uber on the wrong side of the road as he wanted to make sure he caught a green light, I was probably doing about 32 - 33 in a 30mph as it was.
From a casual observation it seems younger people use them more like a personal bus service. I see a report on BBC News about drivers tricking the system and some drivers not even being the same as on the app! I wonder how many people really do check? but surely it does raise safety questions.

I agree that a lot of them drive quite poorly but the same can be said of black cabs who cut everyone up especially buses & don’t indicate particularly one instance where I’m crossing a road.

The private hire is usually the driver as advertised, but when it comes to ubereats, i never actually had a person that showed on app deliver the food...and it always says bicycle and tet they arrive on moped or car, probably to avoid insurance check.

To be fair everytime I have used Uber I have never ever had a problem really good drivers and they get you from A to B in a decent fashion .
However when I am driving my own car all I see is PCO Drivers ( not going to say Uber as we don't actually know who they work for we just assume . ) in primarily Toyota Priuses usually going a lot slower than the speed limit stopping without indicating and just general shoddy driving but alot of black cab drivers do the same I think driving standards in general are going down hill for example a lot of people will come on to a three lane dual carriageway (Beckton Roundabout in this case ) and automatically indicate and go and sit in the middle lane and think they are doing the right thing , I just think a lot of people honestly don't know how to drive .
But with Brexit coming and Mr Corbyn talking about Nationalising everything I don't understand why tfl haven't made their own ride sharing app exactly like Uber with the same model for both Mini and Black cabs does nobody think that would work ? Keep the money in the UK some extra cash for tfls coffers and just imagine the Uberpool equivalent could be operated using full size single deckers 😂😉 In all seriousness why isn't this a thing we had East Thames Buses competing with Private bus companies for contracts not that long ago why not have "Tfl cabs" competing with Addison Lee and the remaining little mini can outfits still left ?

Maybe this will lead to a resurgence in bus usage? Hopefully justifying the reverse of some of the damage done to the bus network already. Might be getting ahead of myself a bit here...

The demand responsive bus thing which is being/has been trailed in Sutton and Ealing is a great idea and is a sensible move from TfL to try to compete with Uber. Hopefully if Uber do lose their license TfL can exploit this gap in the market.
