I'm at a disadvantage to you guys, I'm not clued up on vehicle specifications, but I've been on those 193 small vehicles many times and experienced problems along that part of the route. Drivers having to reverse for hundred yards or so because of oncoming vehicles, having trouble at the bottom of Vaughan Ave for parked cars. That's the main problem, parked cars. I don't recall any low trees at County Park, though I'll look out for them next time I'm there, probably next month. There are a few narrow residential roads on the 193 that wouldn't be suitable for double deckers or for that matter larger single deckers. It was double deck operated years ago but the route has changed since then.

251 - it is TfL's stated position that DDs cannot run on the route due to low trees on the south side of Lawrence Street, Mill Hill (no pavement on that side of the road so the trees are close to the road and do overhang).
Having said that, I am not sure why the worst offending tress could not be cut back and strangely enough I did see a private double deck bus heading along there some weeks ago, rather gingerly and bashing various tree branches along the way, whilst I followed behind on an overly-packed 251! So I think to say DDs are *impossible* along there is stretching it - there just isn't the will to make it happen.

W6 - Haselbury Road too narrow and I think the telegraph poles on Haselbury Rd may also be too low.

346 problems probably along Moor Lane and the turn into Lexington Way. A bigger problem on the 346 would be the low bridge at Cranham - a low-height DD would be OK but current TfL-spec DDs wouldn't. Sounds similar to the situation on the 214. I mentioned in another thread that I'd seen an LU Trident follow the offending section of route up Highgate West Hill without difficulty. I suspect the problem on both 214 and 251 is that drivers need to avoid driving too close to the kerb (in places where there is either no pavement or only a very narrow pavement) - so it can be done if you're paying attention to the trees, but they wouldn't want to risk it in regular service. If the problem is leaning trunks rather than low branches, you'd probably need to cut the whole tree down. The locals in Highgate will fight tooth and nail against any trees being cut down, and I'm guessing the same goes in Mill Hill.

433 has issues with residents in Selsdon Vale I think so can't use deckers.

With the 284, IIRC it's because of a low bridge in between Catford & Ladywell (not the bridge at Catford but on Bexhill Road). Yes low bridge in Bexhill Road on the 284, I think it has seen a very occasional double decker between Grove Park and Catford. Yes I seem to recall that too, I think it was during the snowy weather some years ago.

The G1 has tight turns within the back streets around the Battersea: Shaftesbury Estate area.

Always assumed the 364 can't be decked due to tight turns in the Meads Lane area, but lo and behold I saw an empty blue Ensignbus DD along there last week. God knows what it was doing there, but 364 definitely needs DDs during school in and out times. 193 - very tight and narrow turns along Newmarket Way and Bevan Way, so no chance of DD there, likewise 499 along Keats Ave and Grange Rd. 462 -no problem 362 possible problems along Grove Rd and Brocket Way 346 problems probably along Moor Lane and the turn into Lexington Way. 462 now is been rerouted via Fairlop Station which has a low bridge so 462 can't use double deckers.

Many moons ago the 153 ran with double deckers. Don't think there are any height issues on the route despite it being rather longer than back then. Pretty sure the 187 also saw double deckers a long while back too although the O2 centre might be an issue now - can't remember if there are height restrictors at the entrance or not. No issues for DDs in St Raphaels from what I can remember. I'm sure 232 has had DD workings in the past. No issues for the 235 to Sunbury. Used to see RMLs and Olympians a long while back. Can't see any issues at NBQ other than the over-entitled residents moaning as usual. Ian Armstrong's www.londonbuses.co.uk historical website is a great help for seeing route and allocation histories. Drove many 232 TA’s and TAL’s in the past. No issues. Fits around St Raphs, plus originally Arriva ran an M Along the 232 as a DD school trip Am and Pm

Narrow roads prevent: 382, 384, 395, 398, 631, E6, H2, H3, U10
Weight restriction: 609 (same as 209)
