I really like that 432 idea. Sorry if I've stirred up a hornets nest here You've nothing to apologise for, we should all be able to speak freely without being shouted down by the naysayers who oppose everything with meaningless statements like "route x doesn't need to go to y" and suggesting certain areas are dead. It's actually Anerley Station that is dead and one of the least used stations on LO, hence no ticket gates and not fully staffed. It certainly doesn't justify four bus routes!

On LBC they mentioned there will be no more road improvement schemes due to "lack of funding"... the cupboard is bare. He's blown the budget

I don't think Crystal Palace - Anerley bit is as bad as Leytonstone - Wanstead.
So we have the Central line... And W13. And 66. And W14. And 145!!!
I mean what on earth, yet Forest Gate and Leytonstone have no direct bus link!! 66 at least takes a different routing, via New Wanstead and Snaresbrook, so that's fair enough. W14 is all-through so better not to be tampered with. W13 is an infrequent granny bus so I would therefore nominate the 145 to be curtailed to Wanstead. Just not sure if there's the stand space... :/

Even though that section seems like it's overbussed all the routes there do have their own crowd and provide their unique links. As for the Leytonstone to Forest Gate link I'm very surprised as to why that's not existed for many years, it's almost a simple around the corner type link that no route provides. The 58 manages to get to Leyton while the 308 manages to get to Wanstead but nothing makes it to Leytonstone

I mean what on earth, yet Forest Gate and Leytonstone have no direct bus link!! But it does have the GOBLIN rail service - which is having £125m spent on it so don't expect a bus link to ever materialise. Furthermore the Ribbit ticket removes any incentive on TfL to provide new bus links - "just change buses".

First of all the two GOBLIN stations aren't Step Free. People might also want to go to an intermediate point. And children would have to pay to use this link (I mainly mention this as back when I had a Zip Card, I would always choose the free bus over a paid train). Ribbit ticket - doing a 308 + W19 is painful, especially on weekend mornings when 308 is half hourly, and anytime after 8pm + sundays when it is every 20min. W19 isn't best either though much better than the previous 4bph. And for Leytonstone and Wanstead, as I said we have the Central line, which is also much higher frequency than the 4tph Goblin! So I dunno I think the Whipps Cross campaigners need to exploit the whole buses-to-hospitals mania

As for the Whipps Cross hospital link would that really be needed from Forest Gate? Most of Forest Gate is covered by Newham Hospital.

Actually it's about 50/50, Dad had his op at Whipps Cross, and I've been admitted to both hospitals in the past. So I'm rather sure that would be used. Also, W19 is well used between Leytonstone and Manor Park so I can't think why the FG link wouldn't be. I doubt it would be just kids, can think of many "average-aged" people utilise this too

I agree a link from Leytonstone to Forest Gate would be used but in today's environment I don't see TfL introducing a route like that when they can just tell people to use the hopper or the Goblin, and most of the time the Goblin costs the same as the bus anyway for adults.

You may well be entirely right about the possible prospects for a bus service but the process is weighted against it never mind the financial situation. The link into Whipps Cross Hospital is not featured in the TfL hospital services review. Without political clout behind the demand for a service nothing will happen. Epsom Gen Hosp may get the 470 despite having ludicrously low numbers of users / small catchment area because there has been a very vocal and long running campaign. Ditto over bus access to North Middlesex Hospital from Enfield.

From my experience, there may well be more people returning to Anerley Station in the p.m. peak than travel from it in the morning, the reason being that a.m. may be a choice between going to Crystal Palace or Anerley, same service headway, but seats available at C.P. In the evening, just get on the first train to arrive that's not crushed and get off at which it takes you to - and plenty of those then get a bus for a stop or two or three up the hill too.

None the less four bus routes are excessive, by comparison the busier Gypsy Hill station is served by just one route.

And to worsen the situation its ran with 8.9 metre buses due to restrictions that are often full to the brim Yes but shoving four routes down Gipsy Hill would be an example of overbussing unlike Anerley Hill & Anerley Road where the four routes that run between Crystal Palace & Anerley are there for a good reason. What should of happened at the last contract is upgraded it to 9.6m/9.7m dual door buses with a slight frequency increase rather than speccing the same inadequate length as the previous buses operated.
