Well the second half has been a bit flat but.......job done! No heroics needed in the second half - the job was done in the first half. There was clearly an eye on the big one against Belgium although the result isn’t necessarily important. There’s a good chance that second place in the group leads to an easier path through the tournament |

Well it's safe to say England are humiliating Panama, and they should be humiliated with way they're playing! I think that's a little harsh - I don't agree with the grappling but outside of that, what do you expect Panama to do. Breaking up play and trying their best is all they can do so if they have to commit to fouls within reason so not like the grapples in the box, then so be it. They don't have the quality to play expansive football and if they did, it would of been in double figures. Panama worked hard the whole game and didn't even give up despite being 6-0 down and got what they came for - their first ever World Cup goal. I think that should at least be applauded. As for England, it was a decent performance overall with good game management second half (6-1 flattered them a little, should be more like 3-1 or 4-1) and every player except Sterling can be happy with their contribution - he was quite poor throughout and should of been dropped after his poor performance against Tunisia. Rashford brings so much more to the table - a goal threat and great energy. I honestly don't think Belgium will be worried at all - they played Panama so England fans can be positive but also need to be realistic - you've not beaten a top team comfortably here so they need to calm down a bit. |
