Plymouth bus service improvement plan out focuses on 5 min daytime frequency on 6 main corridors (includes George- Mutley- city and George - Milehouse- City) and 10 min park and ride frequency plus 15 min off peak. How will Stagecoach feature in this? Can we expect more from them in the city do we think? Assuming they can recruit drivers that is!

With changes to route 118 to connect in with the reopened Dartmoor Line between Okehampton and Exeter, Dartline's Wright Streetlite MX62 ANR and Optare Solo SR YJ18 DLN have gained "Rail Link 118" branding. Signage on the cove panels reads "118 Tavistock - Lydford - Okehampton [National Rail symbol] for trains to Exeter", whilst the windows have transfers promoting GWR, Devon County Council and Dartline working in partnership. This follows on from the branding of Tally Ho route 164 after it was extended to Salcombe. Photos (not mine): flic.kr/p/2mL58Wf flic.kr/p/2mL57vz

How come no Boxing Day service? Is this just because of staff shortage or have days of service on Boxing Day gone,? This has been a good bonus in Plymouth for past 6 years.

From Monday 6th December Plymouth CityBus route 42C (Woolwell) will operate via George Junction Park & Ride on Mondays to Fridays. There are some minor changes to the 42 group timetables to accommodate this.
Plymouth CityBus routes 8/9 (Efford & Laira), 21 (Barne Barton-Chaddlewood) and the 42 group will have temporary timetables with reduced frequencies during the Christmas school holiday period.
Our Bus Torbay (Torbay Community Development Trust) has cancelled its T3 and T6 shoppers services from the Torbay area to Newton Abbot Tesco. The cancellation is effective from 15th December.

Surely Stagecoach have to do something back perhaps as suggested before re route 101 via Mutley to.provide 8 min frequency from Derriford- Mutley- city

Yeah right. Customer demand my eye.... same tactics they used with First, picking off the other companies routes one by one. Stagecoach really ought to watch it here imo as I suspect this will be just the start. Stagecoach don't have much in Plymouth area that PCB aren't already operating on too! If this bus service improvement plan goes ahead next year it will be interesting to see what Stagecoach come out with from that, if it doesn't Stagecoach need some kind of fight back to hold on to and gain passengers on tthe city. Interestingly it is the exact line they used when they introduced blue flash to Tavistock a few years ago against First 83 and 86. First pulled out and Stagecoach took over and hey presto citybus pulled out of Tavistock and lost interest in said customers almost immediately. Same happened on Mount batten route (only lasted few months) and Ivybridge route in competition with First 88 at that point

There are more Stagecoach South West timetable changes coming in January.
From Monday 3rd January Torbay routes 12, 22 and Gold will have temporary timetable during the closure of the Livermead railway bridge, on the main road between Torquay and Paignton - the bridge will be closed until at least the beginning of March. During the closure the daytime frequency of the 12 will reduce from every 10 to every 12 minutes and Gold will start/terminate at Paignton, not operating to and from Torquay.
From Sunday 9th January Falcon is restored to its full timetable. The Uni service in Exeter will have a revised evening timetable with new night journeys on Thursdays.
From Friday 14th January night services will be introduced on Exeter City routes A, E, I/J and L on Friday and Saturday nights, in partnership with Devon County Council. Route E1 will also be extended to and from the Royal Devon and Exeter Hopsital on Friday and Saturday nights. Oddly, there is no mention of the Friday and Saturday night N57 service resuming.
From Sunday 23rd January there will be further changes in Exeter - some of these are temporary service reductions to be able to run a more reliable service due to the driver shortage which is affecting Exeter particularly badly. There will also be a couple of changes in North Devon.
Route A - Monday-Saturday daytime frequency temporarily reduced to every 30 minutes Route E1/E2 - Monday-Saturday daytime frequency temporarily reduced to every 15 minutes (every 30 minutes on each route) Route I/J - Monday-Saturday daytime frequency temporarily reduced to every 30 minutes on each route Route R/S - Monday-Saturday daytime frequency temporarily reduced to every 40 minutes on each route
Route H1/H2 - Extended to Cowley Bridge via West Garth Road on Monday-Saturday daytimes due to a new weight limit in West Garth Road (replaces double-deck operated route 5) Routes 5/5A/5B/5C - new timetables, no longer operates via West Garth Road in Cowley Bridge (service H1/H2 will offer a replacement). In Crediton routes 5A and 5B will be rerouted via the main road whilst routes 5 and 5C will be rerouted to serve Crediton Station.
Routes 11A/11C (North Devon) - Monday-Saturday daytime frequency temporarily reduced to every 30 minutes on each route Routes 21/21A (North Devon) - the Bideford-Appledore and Westward Ho! legs will be reduced temporarily to hourly. The core Bideford-Barnstaple section will continue to operate every 15 minutes.

Stagecoach South West is installing audio-visual next stop announcements on 30 of its Scania/ADL Enviros at Torquay. The equipment is being funded by Torbay Council from grants and planning contributions from new developments, and is being installed on buses which operate mainly on routes 12 and 22. The GPS tracking also allows the intermediate points on the destination displays on the front of the buses (and on the rear of the 67-registration MMCs) to be changed automatically as the bus proceeds.

Stagecoach sold to National Express and Megabus and Falcon subsequently to become part of Comfort Del Group ,(Metroline) from February 2022. I wonder how this will effect Stagecoach SW ops going forward?

Stagecoach sold to National Express and Megabus and Falcon subsequently to become part of Comfort Del Group ,(Metroline) from February 2022. I wonder how this will effect Stagecoach SW ops going forward? Stagecoach will still operate Falcon and Megabus but ComfortDelGro is just acquiring the marketing, retail and customer service activities. So in effect Stagecoach will operate a franchise without managing anything like pricing to get around any potential CMA issues.
