Correct me if i am wrong please. An annoying thing for me is pelican crossings when the light starts to flash orange for drivers and flashing green for pedestrians it means to give way to anyone currently crossing the road but so many pedestrians walk up to it and just step out. But you can also flip that by saying it's also annoying when cars & bicycles don't stop at the red lights as well and some don't bother waiting for the flashing amber either so it works both ways I'm not attacking pedestrians in particular just saying something i have experienced. I hate when cars dont let you cross on a zebra when they have seen you for a while, i dont usually expect the first vehicle to stop. Some pedestrians however dont look when on zebras and just step out. Some people seem to go around with the mentality that if you hit me ill be suing you... Good luck with that when you are zipped in a body bag. When im crossing roads such as zebras i dont trust other vehicles and will always look at my surroundings because i dont want to be in hospital or worse dead.

I do agree that there are people who walk around with that mentality as someone tried to do it to me a few years back.

This is more like a rant WHY THE FLIP DO CYCLISTS THINK THEY CAN RIDE ON THE WRONG FLIPPING SIDE OF A DUAL CARRIADEWAY WHEN CARS ARE APPROACHING! I find this totally unacceptable and think the cycles should have number plates as this is getting pathetic This was near Balham Argos on the A24

And another one.... I can't flipping stand them anymore! One just smashed into me on Eastbourne Road, drove off and didn't even say anything!I'm not injured this time but imo cyclists should pass a test and get number plates as soon someone will get hurt!

Maybe pedestrians should have to as well? Both ideas are equally unrealistic.

It might be a huge stretch giving bikes license plates but something like a CBT could work.

Just because not everyone will comply with a new regulation, that is a weak argument against its implementation. I would perhaps stop short of number plates for cyclists as someone has to pay for that. I don’t want to see cyclists pay road tax nor should the additional burden fall on existing road tax payers. I do however think cycling proficiency should be compulsory for all cyclists. Especially those who don’t know how to drive as they have little to no knowledge of where blindspots are nor how to anticipate pedestrian and driver behaviour. I think training in hazard perception, defensive riding and understanding the road regulations should be mandatory at a national level. It would have to be heavily subsidised to ensure that uptake is as high as possible and not a deterrent for new cyclists getting on the road. Now that would potentially make the scheme too expensive to roll out. I’m surprised that more focus hasn’t been put on upskilling cyclists as part of TfL’s Vision Zero policy. This isn’t just about stopping cyclists from hitting pedestrians, more importantly it should be about keeping cyclists safe. My borough, Greenwich, has free cycling road safety courses. I would love to see this expanded out and training to be made mandatory.

In Europe, Police stop and fine cyclists for no proper hi-vis accesories/clothing, driving over red, doing stupid things...but in UK Police doesn't have time for that, I mean cops barely have time to deal with cars doing stupid things so...

Exactly that and even more alarmingly there has been an increase in drink driving in some areas after years of decline, it's probably down to the lack of police presence leading to some people thinking it's worth the risk.
