I've already given my opinion on this route. But I honestly do not see the point of its introduction - it links no town centre to Barking Riverside and just weaves between housing estates. Nothing wrong with routes which weave through Housing estates but it also needs to provide a link to a town centre somewhere My guess is that the route in the development plan won't be the route that's introduced in the end. What I see is the 173 being cut somewhere on the northern end, then gets diverted through Barking Riverside before continuing onto Beckton with the route renumbered EL4. Every other ELT route has come at the expense of another route so far with the 369 taking the chop for the EL1, the 179 getting cut for the EL2 and the 387 getting chopped for the EL3. I see similar taking place with the EL4. I'm also doubtful that 2021 is realistic for this route, the Barking Riverside development is running behind schedule. The EL3 should have been extended to Northgate Road via a brand new bridge and busway however that is yet to happen, I think that's the next stage for the ELT before something else happens.

I presume Go-Ahead will run the route from RR?

I presume Go-Ahead will run the route from RR? EL4 is no where near the stage that it should be running so its going to be another few years before even the route is proposed to run considering it will be depending on road/housing infrastructure in order for the route to start and by the time when the route will be staring a lot of things would probably changed by then.
I can also see Arriva DX and Stagecoach BK in contention of running the EL4 along with Go-Ahead RR.

I would have thought it may appear the next time the other EL routes come out for tender. So would that be intro in 2022?

I think RR will be more suited as they have more experienced with LTs if they are getting them that is

TF recently took on an LT route and as far as I can tell they aren't having any problem with it.
