The 166, 216 and 465 were both considered at risk thou both didn't make it to consultation phase. Unlike the 167. It is quite surprising that the 465 has survived as a TFL route, given how far out of Greater London it goes. Leatherhead would seem a more natural terminus for a TFL route. That was the plan for it to be cut to Leatherhead. In days gone by red buses only got as far as Leatherhead (65/71/265) with Green line services south of there to Dorking.

I know Loughton and Debden are over the border, but are served by 167, 20, 549 and 397, and really could do with a night service. The Central Line does run at weekends at night to Loughton, but maybe a Sunday night to Thursday extension of the N55 to Debden -Hillyfields would be useful. Ideally I'd like the 397 which doesn't even have an evening service, to be 24hr, linking Debden, Borders Lane estate and Loughton with Chingford Station, to link up with the N26. The night service on 397 running between Debden and Chingford only.

Regarding the capacity along this section, note that the 34/234/263 all use the same route between Whetstone and Barnet, which would be joined by 460 in this case. Maybe the 234 could take over the 383 routeing instead between Barnet and Whetstone, with perhaps the 382 diverting to serve Torrington Park? Upon TFLs consultation of route 384 - at the top they said they were thinking of rerouting the 234 via Gloucester Road around New Barnet - imo it sounds like a good idea but it shouldn't take the 383s routing. The problem with that idea is that the 234 would only take over the Gloucester Road and Lysondown Road removed part, not Longmore Avenue, York Road and New Barnet station entrance in the same area. The 326 along Longmore Avenue already gives the Whetstone link - what's needed is a west to east link to New Barnet station and all the shops on East Barnet Road, as currently provided by the 384. Diverting the 383 as I suggested could at least solve this section, albeit currently less frequently and without a late evening or Sunday service.

So dread to imagine the service after 10pm let alone 3am in the morning. The N55 extended to Loughton or Debden would be logical. There always were people coming off at Woodford Wells then wanting a mini-cab when they realise there was no bus options to Buckhurst Hill, Loughton, Debden. IIRC the N8 or nightbus 96 I think it was that number was cut back to save money when many nightbus cross border services were scaled back.

I would have though possibly the 221 on a Fri/Sat night might be a contender - e.g. linking Mill hill East with the two branches of the Northern Line at night; as well as broader cross-North London links from NW London to places like Wood Green and Turnpike Lane.

The N96 went to Debden - the N8 was running to Newbury Park/Woodford Wells after its extension from Bow Church.

If Debden wanted a night service they could pull an N53 and have some night services going there.
The first thing I'd do is extend the Central Line night tube up to Debden with Theydon Bois & Epping not having a night tube which sounds reasonable.
During the week - the N55 could always terminate at Loughton but only a few services a night. This would give Buckhirst Hill and Loughton a night service. That sounds fair.

I like the idea, but the trouble with the 221 is that it doesn't connect with the High Barnet branch despite crossing it. Weekend night routes are generally chosen to feed into the night tube; while the 221 does act as a feeder for the Piccadilly Line at Wood Green, much of that catchment area is already covered by the N91, which undermines the case for the 221.
A mad plan for Mill Hill would be an N210 running from Finsbury Park to Golders Green via the 210, then via 240 to Mill Hill East, then 221 to Edgware. Very far-fetched I know!

N11: withdrawn between Northfield Avenue and Ealing Broadway. Diverted to Greenford Broadway via route E3 to Greenford. To link Greenford Avenue with Northfields, Acton and Central London at night.

I don't often say this about your route ideas (as you know) but I really like this idea. The northern end of the E3 feeds the Piccadilly Line at Northfields (not least because of the poor rail service at Hanwell) and I think sending the N11 to Greenford would give these places a useful link to the night tube. Additionally, those inconvenienced who use the N11 between Ealing Broadway and Northfields can just take the N65 and walk a short distance.

N120: a weekend night service running between Northolt and Hounslow via route 120. To provide the 120, Norwood Green and Lady Margaret Road with a night service. NH12: a weekend night service running between South Harrow and Stanmore via route H12. To provide H12, parts of Stanmore (that’s not served by the N98), Hatch End and Rayners Lane.

I like the idea but stand space could be am inconvenience to residents. Could it always be extended round to G and stand there?

Would G even want a none Metroline bus route to stand in there garage? I know other garages like Catford garage allows won’t but not all garage are the same. I’m sure the residents won’t mind because the weekend night service of the E1 stands there. And also does G have enough room at night for buses to stand in it?

I’ve once seen the N18 and 140 stand on the High Road at Harrow Weald and not in the garage. To turn around they would either turned around at roundabout or did a 3 point turn into KFC drive thru and not use the garage to turn around. And also the shutters were closed. So that’s reason I assumed that garage aren’t open at night.
