Really donโt see what difference closing a handful of stations is gonna achieve...especially when most of the busiest/overcrowded ones remain open. Staffing - staff can be redeployed to busier stations to cover staff who are on sick leave or following official advice to self-isolate.

Might as well just delete the post I put out earlier then ๐ I do normally check to make sure I don't repeat something that has normally has been said because I was being lazy so apologies. I don't want to cause another petty argument on this forum because there has been a lot recently. There is nothing wrong about reaping something twice in a major issue such as this. I have a philosophy: it is better to be told twice, than not to be told at all.

Its important information is posted, we need to stop worrying about duplication in these difficult times. Would rather read something twice than miss it.

Watching BBC news and can see sightseeing buses running light to take up service in the background. I'm surprised they haven't given up service already.

I should hope the government implement their rumoured lockdown sometime on Friday afternoon, don't want the "me me me" folk to continue ignoring government advice and carrying on with their Friday night cocaine fuelled parties and risk further spread... On a transport related note, if all TfL services get suspended, could some buses be re-deployed elsewhere and perhaps used to create special services for emergency service/health workers connecting hospitals & police stations for example. I would assume these services would definitely need a police presence on them though.

They could make routes only available to staff producing ID and run around shift patterns where possible.

The latest thinking seems to be that a lockdown in London isn't imminent but obviously it can't be ruled out at some point, we'll just have to play it by ear it's a fast changing situation. Some people are of the view that they can't see it, they can't smell it and they don't personally know anybody who has got it and they think the whole thing is being overstated. Being stuck at home 24 hours a day can bring its own problems, family tensions (some people find Christmas day challenging enough) and can lead to mental health problems and the onset of dementia in the elderly and could possibly even drive some people to suicide. I have no immediate concerns for my own health or my partner and kids, we are more concerned for elderly relatives and have advised them to stay at home but they probably won't. I will be avoiding public transport for the time being and only making essential journeys in the car or walk. I was out last night and life seemed to be going on pretty much as normal, it might be an idea to formally close pubs and restaurants so that people have fewer places to actually go? On a positive note there seems to be a good community spirit amongst people generally.

At what point did the advice to "use public transport normally" change to "only essential travel"? Too much is slipping though unannounced and unchallenged.

I would have thought they would have closed a lot more stations than that. I especially would have thought that Heathrow Airport stations would have been closed. The airport still have skeleton flights in operation to get respective nationals back to home ground.

Given recent circumstances the TfL commissioner Mike Brown will be staying on for a little while longer, he was previously due to leave in May.

From looking out of my window here in Huddersfield it seems as though people are continuing to use the buses normal, still seem to have healthy loads. This will unfortunately be the reason why we get placed on lockdown if it comes to that, because people are not listening to the government's advice. The only journey I will make in the next week will be an essential journey to relocate back to London for the "holidays" unless anything changes.
