London is going into Tier2 local lockdown from midnight Friday Let's hope people stick to this! Can't see it my self based on the last set of restrictions but can hope. I don't want to get too political but starting to wonder if the government is getting its timing wrong like it did in March and we will end up in a bad situation in a few weeks.

Being suggested Londoners will be encouraged to avoid public transport where possible when not travelling to work etc.

Given this week's very public disassociation by the SAGE committee (which advised the "circuit breaker" on 21st September) and Labour's very public about-turn on supporting the Government's efforts to fight the virus, I think there is every possibility that the Government is getting its timing wrong. I'd love to be wrong on this but I doubt that I am.

So it could be an opportunity to see what happens over the next month. Frankly if I’m honest then labour should be supporting but still critical of the government’s approach, having an out rejection of the effort the government is making certainly doesn’t help them retain their lacklustre credibility. Whilst it’s unfair to boroughs in the south like Sutton, Croydon and Bromley that have considerably lower infection rates when compared to boroughs in the north of London because of the way the city works it’s either all or nothing situation.

Those pubs on the Surrey borders will become very popular

It's a largely pointless exercise given how many people don't abide by the rules. Pub's will probably end up closing. A few more suicides. A few hundred more people dying in their homes because they won't go to hospital.
Look after the vulnerable and keep them happy. This winter will be awful for them. If you feel ill self isolate. Keep distance, wear masks. Don't panic buy. Maintain hobbies.

Being suggested Londoners will be encouraged to avoid public transport where possible when not travelling to work etc. Perhaps a reprint of the wartime "Is your journey really necessary?" posters is on the cards. BTW The Government did change its advice on 22nd September - the only part of the SAGE committee advice they followed: "To help contain the virus, office workers who can work effectively from home should do so over the winter. Where an employer, in consultation with their employee, judges an employee can carry out their normal duties from home they should do so. Public sector employees working in essential services, including education settings, should continue to go into work where necessary. Anyone else who cannot work from home should go to their place of work." Source: www.gov.uk/government/news/coronavirus-covid-19-what-has-changed-22-september

I don't normally comment on this thread and I'm not going to get political so I only have one thing to say. Please look after yourself and check in on your friends and family. A little text can really make a massive difference to someone.

Dread to think what someone reactions will be if we end up at tier 3. What happend to we all in this together community spirit we had in March and April, a full national lockdown could be very different this time around and one especially on top of Christmas.

I've been doing it for weeks now and have got back into the groove of it and honestly the buses are cleaner than ever - I hardly see any rubbish anymore for instance.
