Hopefully they see sense and reverse this decision because people are already strained as it is.

The congestion charge will extend to the Noth and South circular That hasn't been confirmed at all - it is a condition of the government so far, no more than that which TfL look likely to reject.

Hopefully they see sense and reverse this decision because people are already strained as it is. What worries me is they are running out of Money but seem to keep having money to put cycle lanes in where bus lanes previously were and implement or give funding to councils to implement LTN's 🤷🏻 Nothing makes sense unless all these schemes are to push people back on to public transport to get money in ? I don't know , what I do no is there is a ridiculous amount of waste on the tfl network that needs to be got rid of or this is just going to keep happening and we are all going to have to pay for it .

Really can't get my head around how they are seriously considering extending the congestion charge! On BBC London new they gave the impression there would be no resident discount, there is no way I could justify paying £15 a day!
If extended it would have to have a huge amount of cameras installed. Talking of cameras how would it work say for someone that just drives on local journeys using back roads where I assume no cameras would register the car? do this journey go under the radar so to speak?

Sorry but don't think anyone will realistically pay the daily ULEZ charge unless seriously got money to burn, most cars from 2006 / 2007 are compliant and would work out cheaper to buy a old banger than pay the daily charge. If the congestion charge is extended I assume residents will receive 90% discount? I can't see this going ahead, can see a huge backlash and this will give people no option but to use public transport which we being told to avoid. That's petrol cars that are compliant around 2006 and 2007 not diesel cars. They need to be euro 6 to meet the standards. Knowing this government I doubt they would bring in the discounts. Feel my point still stands if you have a car that old I doubt you would even consider paying the daily charge.

Jeremy Clarkson posted something about this on his Instagram. Safe to say he wasn't impressed! https://www.instagram.com/p/CGX3YCuH8Ew He even called for Mayor Khan to resign in a subsequent post!! I'd hardly expect an impartial analysis from Jeremy Clarkson......... with capacity on public transport limited for the foreseeable future is it really unreasonable to take steps to make walking and cycling safer? Obviously it's not been without its problems but in the current situation we're going to have to put up with some inconvenience. I have yet to see a sudden increase in walking and cycling even back in Summer. I hate to disappoint you but passengers are using buses more and more, I was in the Canning Town area this evening and see huge numbers waiting for buses and some 115 buses with standing passengers.
Sadly it seems the majority of people and being inconvenienced for all these so called new cyclist. Also repeating myself but rarely see anyone on a street even attempt to social distance.

The cameras would be installed anyway as it will be the same as the expanded ULEZ that is due to start next year I think TfL announced few months ago that they had started installing the cameras. I suppose therefore that it could in theory start quite soon (although would be patchy enforcement until more cameras are installed to cover the gaps), however those for the Londonwide truck+bus ULEZ are probably ready as was due to start in 10 days time (although fines have been deferred 4 months due to Covid affecting vehicle upgrades The mayor might be unhappy, but the old saying, beggars can’t be choosers, seems appropriate. His choice is be unhappy or reject the bailout, or sacrifice something else during 2 weeks of extra negotiations

In theory but then what about those that are on low pay and can't afford to change their cars and where they may live transport is not as regular as other areas. But let's just hope that this move does not go through.

The LTN's that you say are well received are just by selfish NIMBY's who want to increase their house price etc. but are ok to go and driver in someone else's side street as a shortcut. And of course the 'nimbys' would say the selfish ones were the boy racers using their neighbourhood as a rat run. So the boy racers as you call them are the ones doing rat runs??? seriously!!! So are LTN's now only set up to stop 'boy racers'

And of course the 'nimbys' would say the selfish ones were the boy racers using their neighbourhood as a rat run. The LTN’s in my area are not used by “boy racers”. Many have been put in place to encourage cycling rather than roads being victim of rat running. However traffic has been displaced onto other already busy and narrow roads, not equipped to handle the increased flow of traffic. LTNs appeared within weeks of announcement with zero consultation. Residents woke up to find their roads being blocked off. I’ve seen a council official counting something or another around the corner from my street. If they are even thinking about it, I will fiercely oppose any attempt to install an LTN in any of my surrounding roads. It’s a solution looking for a problem in many cases. As above, every article I have seen about the reason for the LTN's are to promote people into cycling or walking.

How do you oppose something that appears without warning. Where I am we have been fighting for 3 months to get them removed without success Redbridge council have just announced they are going to cancel all their LTN's and they would all be gone within 2 weeks now.
