It is not just the travel industry that needs help ... what point is a lengthy lockdown if our economy collapses.

Well this is a bus forum and I didn’t want to immediately comment on the wider economy. I’m of the opinion that preserving life is more important than the economy. Lock the country down - yes - but the government has to get money to individuals and industries that will be financially impacted. I’m hoping the chancellor will announce some meaningful steps at 5pm today.

Fully agree with social media comments. It's a double edged sword. Useful in times of isolation and crisis, and also a medium foe for transporting inaccurate drivel during isolation and crisis.

All set to get worse - partial lockdown. All bars, restaurants, gyms, pubs, cinemas, theatres are now closed in London to try curb COVID-19. All the venues people would travel by bus for. Also most are working from home now, so I can't see this improving for weeks. Not quite Italian levels, but you can see where this is headed

I would have thought they would have closed a lot more stations than that. I especially would have thought that Heathrow Airport stations would have been closed. Its down to staffing levels, so staff are focused on certain stations. Over the past week there also has been train cuts on London Underground, which shows up as "operational reasons" in the status updates. It has been happening on buses also where staff going offsick
Sullivans are having to cull some 217 journeys tonight.

Sullivans are having to cull some 217 journeys tonight. The 298 isn't looking any better either and Herts is even worse due to staff self isolation. Really a very difficult time for Sullivan and every other bus company.

Think maybe they need to scale buses back to try and stop people going out. I know buses are needed for essential journeys but London don't seem to be listening! Trying so hard to avoid the news for a break but its everywhere, I almost wish for some normal headlines!

Well said, sick of people want everything locked down, then go out and panic buy everything in the shops then further risk the spread of the virus I want everything locked down and I haven't panic brought anything. If there is a lockdown, no one would be able to panic buy because there would actually be proper restrictions in place like in France & Italy where you would require a permit for starters with failure to show one resulting in police action. greenboy not everyone can self isolate as some of us have jobs to go to. I can't suddenly tell my boss I'm self isolating when I've no legitimate reason to do so. We've got a sort of lockdown now, not much point going out with everything closed other than for essential shopping. I don't see any permit system being workable.

Somebody made a joke today about someone coming back from outer space saying "I tried to warn you about the chaos Brexit would cause".

Obviously lives are more important and I dread to think of the long term mental health issues this is likely to cause.
