Exactly it’s not uncommon to have delivery vans or lorry exclusion hours. For example on Putney High Street delivery vans and lorries are banned from loading and unloading from 7am-7pm Monday to Saturday, no exceptions.

Effectively putting the small man who can't deliver at night out of business ... power to the big multi-nationals Are you actually being serious right now? So bus passengers should be effectively forced to sit in traffic when this idea could actually help passenger numbers. It’s a chief complaint that buses are too slow but yes, let’s focus on supporting businesses rather than the people that power them. No point having deliveries if your staff are stuck on a bus moving 5mph because successive lorries are blocking a vita bus lane. Businesses can adjust their working practices, take deliveries early or later, regardless of size.

Surely this is a push for most, if not all bus lanes to operate 24/7. Some trials that TfL endorsed last year due to the pandemic are still in place. I know some stretches of bus lanes on Commercial Road for example still operate all day and night, which is helpful for when Rotherhithe and Blackwall tunnels take a turn for the worst.

If they want to speed buses get rid of the artificial timetable padding first I'd agree with both sides in that timetables are padded but also bus lanes should be used if they are available.
For example, one thing that really peees me off especially is when cars park in bus lanes (I think you're allowed on weekends?), the one near Priory Park/Middle Lane on the 144/W3 regularly has cars parked in it and you think "Well what's the point of having one if it's being wasted like that?", same with Highgate Hill.

TfL need to get the operators running efficiently before they worry about anythin else. Starting a business normally takes all your savings, probably have to borrow against your property, and will probably run at a loss for the first few months .... you want TfL to make it hard for entrepreneurs to get a foothold and turf familis out their houses, go for it. A minute of 2 delay is nothing compared to homelessness.

Get operators to produce less padded timetables, and buses will speed up. If you open a business 9-5, you will do a lot longer hours. You don't just shut up and everything magically processes itself.

Get operators to produce less padded timetables, and buses will speed up. Fine, produce less padded timetables. Doesn’t change the fact that bus lane usage at the moment is in itself inefficient and a complete waste of resources. Buses should cut through traffic and not sit in it. You will not solve the problem if your bus is still sitting in traffic but with less recovery time, more turns and even less passenger satisfaction because the bus never reaches its destination because the timetable is so tight. So in this case being efficient would not produce revenue.
