It takes a virus a couple of seconds to mutate its RNA, how then are vaccines going to work if people keep spreading the disease constantly and before one vaccine is updated another variant that evades it shows up? The vaccines aren't being developed fast enough We can evade the variants by banning international travel The vaccine isn't be done fast enough what do you expect the NHS to do? They are not robots

You keep ignoring the fact that if there are no further restrictions hospitals won't be able to treat cancers. They will be overwhelmed and will only be dealing with Covid again. Hence we have to learn to live with Covid because shutting down everytime is helping no one. I work with vulnerable children with stories to horrific to tell, lockdowns were hell for some of them, and that’s just two schools I worked at, parents losing jobs breaking down crying because they can’t feed their families and this is down to lockdown! Children’s development behind by two years, this is what I’m dealing, there’s a greater good and continuing to our lives on hold for Covid isn’t one of them Spouses trapped in homes with an abusive partner, this is what I hear every day Be thankful you’re in a job because many others aren’t, you get paid regardless, I don't doubt any of that but the fact remains that preventing the spread of covid has to take priority over everything else. Sadly Christmas brings a spike in domestic violence anyway.

And just because domestic abuse spikes at Xmas it doesn’t mean we should prioritise Covid! The lockdowns saw a spike in domestic violence but of course the pro restrictions crowd really don’t care about anything that isn’t Covid And you can’t stop a spread or control the virus it’s a futile effort, Covid is here forever and the sooner people accept that the better

It's not an either/or situation.

Well on this forum I have the majority opinion. Plus that poll is likely to be biased, depending on sample size, not likely to be an accurate representation of what the country wants. Sorry but you talk absolute bs too if you want a lockdown too. It's not just about my wants, what about other people who want to go to pubs to see their mates or have a meal, what about people who work there who won't even be furloughed. Why should we make sacrifices like this for every variant? What about people who have been diagnosed with depression and have sadly died by suicide as a result of covid stress and anxiety? Do you not care about those people either? You're acting like covid should take no 1 priority when it shouldn't anymore. We need to learn to live with it, not let it control our lives. At the end of the day you only live one life. If you choose to make sacrifices you're essentially wasting your life. Plus barely 1% of positive cases result in deaths so there isn't much of a concern imo. People die of cancer, heart attacks, suicide, strokes, but for you that's not important? Nope as I count there are 2 people who are very vocal about being anti-lockdown, and 3 who feel we need a lockdown to stop Omicron.

I wasn’t trolling, you were about a topic that’s serious, i happen to take the safety of children and vulnerable people very seriously and to me that’s more important than a virus with a 99% survival rate. Don’t worry though it’s likely you lot will get a January lockdown, let’s see more small businesses go under, let’s see more depression shall we all for Covid!

This place is truly awful some of comments about people and death are awful. Some people need a good hard look at themselves. That’s rich considering you’ve continually dismissed people in dire mental health and trapped in abusive circumstances He has never. It's not dismissal, just prioritising Omicron

It's not dismissal, just prioritising Omicron If you look a few pages back he literally said that people with depression should just get a grip, which is utterly uneducated and the wrong thing to say to someone with depression, so yes he did dismiss mental health issues.

Again, what's that got to do with anything? You're both not married nor have kids and by your logic that means you don't have anyone to care about? He obviously doesn't care about other people's mental health because he doesn't live with anyone. Chris Whitty should resign imo You are just like Andrea Leadsom! You know she resigned from the vote to be the Conservative leader and PM when she said May was unfeeling because she had no children - May had a lot of trouble conceiving, she said. Why should he resign just because he lives alone?

Doesn't mean he lives alone though does it? People have parents and siblings. Plus the assumption he is single because he doesn’t have a wife, is 1950 again? He could be gay for all we know! Not saying is it but that was a bold assumption made about him. Thought the younger generation was more liberal nowadays. The Wikipedia article stated that he is single. However, Wikipedia is most certainly not the most reliable of sources.

Eastlondoner62 I have better things to do in my life than to chat to a biased troll. You can live in a permanent lockdown but people's mental health and the economy won't recover. I'm done talking to you and your biased opinions Can you stop calling people trolls?
