Wednesdays are quite busy too. Mondays and Fridays are bliss indeed, not as many people travelling and not as many people in the office. Such a good vibe on Fridays too. I do like the quieter office overall it must be said (usually go in every day). I also thought it was considered a bit douchey to make Monday and Friday your wfh day, but guess I’m wrong! Personally think it’s bit out of order everyone taking Monday and Friday as your so called “wfh” day. Think employers should decide work from home days and spread out and everyone is not out of office at the same time. Sure having a Wednesday off is not as appealing but like much work is done at home on a Friday! The sooner call centre workers return full time to the office the better. Fed up with 30 min wait times then noise in the background from pets and kids.

Don't think call centre workers will be coming back, employers have realised a lot of money can be saved keeping them at home and not leasing office space. The Mon/Fri work from home tends to happen at companies that allow the whole office to be at home those two days, so are effectively chosen by the employer. Obviously this does have a knock on effect of the city and Canary Wharf being deserted as a result but that's not really an employer's problem.

There will no doubt be some privacy breach from users working at home and it will be frowned upon

Our department has around 70 call centre staff, with typically only 12 working in the office and the rest at home. I would find some shifts, especially late finishes and weekends, uncomfortable with the commute added. I work few Sundays but many Saturdays. This means I can sometimes look at transport forums between phone calls (although I do use my laptop, not the office computer).

In your opinion do you think staff have become slack in terms of answering calls? In the last few weeks I have had to call a large stationery company a few times and had call wait times of 30 to 40 mins.

Admittedly it does occasionally happen that I need to transfer a call and I have to check that I have got through to someone in the right department, as they occasionally fail to introduce themselves properly.

Kwasi Kwarteng has been resigned or been sacked! More U turns on the budget expected. What's this got to do with the coronavirus?

For anyone not aware, NHS booster jabs bookings for age 50-64 opened earlier this morning, 65 and up could already book Booked mine, plenty of availability Monday I received an odd letter on Wednesday from the NHS inviting me to arrange my booster due to my age or pre-existing condition. I had to guess a possible condition because it never came up before. Admittedly they exaggerated my age a bit but that might been a clerical error. Anyway, when I entered my correct details online I was not accepted, but yesterday some were displayed for me. As it is, to avoid this year's booster waning prematurely, I prefer to wait until November, the same month I had my booster last year.

Covid cases rapidly rising in China. They are also relaxing travel restrictions for residents.
Let’s hope and pray this is not a repeat of 2020.

To be honest though China has handled it really poorly from day one. Rather than allowing and adapting life around the virus, which was always possible even before a vaccine, they have tried to control it at every aspect to achieve zero covid which just isn’t possible. China is simply reaping what it has sowed through the loss of manufacturing, growth and tourism.

Due to their zero covid policy, its presumed that the case rise there is a variant that's already done the rounds in the rest of the world. Hopefully that's the case.

I don't think it is a repeat of 2020, plus with millions vaccinated across the UK and several more across the world this would have minimal impacts. Even last year with Omicron, there wasn't much change from normality in terms of restrictions

My last vaccine was December 2021 and there is no talk of a fourth one.
Italy, Japan, Malaysia, Taiwan and Indian are tightening measures on Chinese tourists. The US is also considering imposing rules.
Hopefully this is just a temporary blip.
