Covid cases rapidly rising in China. They are also relaxing travel restrictions for residents. Let’s hope and pray this is not a repeat of 2020. As I understand it, it’s Omnicron or a sub variant of it that’s spreading through China which shows how silly they were to try a zero Covid policy - I think southlondon413 summed it up well

I wonder how many would opt for working from home if they were told they could have only two other days of the week at home?

Many people are happy to have the opportunity to work at home on certain days and are conscientious and productive when working at home.

It would still be quite popular, most companies ensure that the work gets done so if the company productivity doesn't slump as a result, I can imagine the company would rather let their staff slump around if it keeps them happy and productive.

Let’s not behave as if we are 20 years back I do appreciate that not every industry can have wfh (steelworkers? Ambulance drivers? Anyone in NHS for example). But calling wfh unproductive is 2-3 decades behind the times

For me, it's no big deal as we fix computers in either office or home

I like to go into the office on Monday and especially Friday. So nice and quiet. The office is almost empty. I almost always have something happening on a Friday evening too so being in central London makes things easier. My room gets super cold in winter so it’s also nice to go to the office where it’s better temperature regulated! The aircon was glorious during those high 30 days. The camaraderie is great as well, many of my coworkers come in every day and we did so early on in the lockdown era (the office was a ghost town apart from us!) I don’t like working from home, I feel far less productive there but if I’m doing admin work and I know I don’t need to use the software I require (which is slow at home) I might take an odd day off (and looks like that I won’t have that opportunity for a good couple of months). If I have a cold I’ll take the time I need at home until I’ll feel better. I might take the odd Monday after a softball tournament if I’m really tired. WFH is the only good thing to come out of this madness, consign the rest of the crap to the bin.

I can scream expletives about my idiot colleagues on those days without them knowing, I barely ever have to see them and I get so much more done.

Absolutely but I'm not jealous of it either - my mate does it and he is just as productive, if not more so working from home.

I am noticing how fewer takeaways still have hand sanitiser, and even some supermarkets have withdrawn it now.
As hand sanitiser was a good idea anyway I feel it should have remained in places involving food.

You occasionally see a manky old left over bottle in shops. One thing I have noticed is a increase in mask wearing around shops and on transport.

For me it was a good thing, down to many people nasty habits, this helped to cut down on spread of germs etc. I noticed a pub yesterday still had it. Many of the ones on the Underground are empty or the pump handle has been removed/broken.

I think the general assumption is that people who use hand sanitiser will have their own pocket size bottle with them now that it's readily available in shops, it wasn't during the pandemic. I think most places have removed it because very few people were using it.

I have always carried my own, my preference is the Rituals Homme cedar wood & vitamin E blend. It has a really nice scent, a bit pricey but I cannot use those ones that stink to high heaven of alcohol, it gives me really bad flashbacks to my recent youth.
