This week I have noticed many buses busier than usual, particularly in the evening peak. For example I was at Baker Street today, and the buses were rammed compared to usual. I wonder if people are switching to buses from the tube because of Coronavirus?

So you're telling me they're gonna wipe all the railings in all buses every night? You're having a laugh

I've noticed the opposite, not as many people using the 35/37 towards Brixton from Clapham in the AM peak I've noticed it being a lot quieter everywhere, public transport, shops, pubs, restaurants etc and it's likely to get worse before it gets better. I can understand people avoiding the tube but a packed bus carries much the same risk.

No it's Heathrow Airport that has had a 4.8% year on year decline in passenger numbers not the tube. Although I have noticed less people using the tube.

So you're telling me they're gonna wipe all the railings in all buses every night? You're having a laugh They should be doing that normal, it is such a shame that it only comes to this outbreak for this to happen. Most buses would go months without this happening.
Some garages at times would mop every bus in one night, including windows and a general sweep, so it is possible. Trouble is many of the cleaning teams at garages, do not have passion in the job, I guess they are being paid peanuts so cannot be bothered and do the bare minimum.

Trump has also just announced a travel ban from mainland Europe to the USA from midnight on Friday (blame Italy for that), the UK is not included.

I agree that buses should be properly cleaned daily including wiping all poles and handrails with disinfectant. This virus has highlighted some of the rather slapdash attitudes to basic hygiene in this country.

Seems now travel from the Schengen region has been banned to the USA. This is going to have a major impact on the air industry, Charles De Gaulle is shutting down Terminal 3 due to lack of traffic and the IAG stocks are down 10%.

Makes sense given the time frame, as reported that data only goes up to the 22nd February. The last few days probably had a more significant decrease in ridership on buses and trains. The million pound question is will we eventually see a temporary shutdown of all transport in London? [EDIT] Wont be in the immediate future it seems, read an article, Boris is sticking with the "take it on the chin" attitude!
