Luckily it seems London anyway hasn't gone too far down the line of panic. In the West End tonight is business as usual. Very busy , not seen anyone in face masks. Where i live though, the toilet paper hoarding continues. A bizarre reaction at this stage. I hope our most vulnerable people are looked after and not isolated as this is almost as bad as the illness itself. I've only seen people on the tube wearing masks and it seems most people are carrying on pretty much as usual in London and elsewhere. I suspect the toilet roll hoarding is people stocking up just in case they have to self isolate indeed some vulnerable people have probably already decided it's safer to stay at home. The toilet paper hoarding came from Australia where some radio host made a joke about people needing to stock pile on it then it went viral. He did it as a joke not knowing how it would have gone. If anything many of the idiots that went out to stock pile made themselves more vulnerable to getting the virus being out in public more. Some of the stuff people have stockpiled on are pathetic and only because they have been brainwashed by social media etc. I expect sales of anti bacterial stuff high, but no need to be stockpiling and to sell at over inflated prices. Many of these products I have had months as I usually purchased, so would not be a sheep to go and stockpile.

We really must not lose our minds over this. I think that is the more worrying aspect of this whole issue. Life must go on in a civilised fashion, whilst accepting risks, which we all do every day anyway without really even acknowledging it.

Life does seem to be going on pretty much as normal apart from the lack of hand gell in shops.

Some people kind of have, with many hygeine necessities selling out thanks to the panic - buying going on at the moment. If people opened up their minds a bit and not allow the media to scaremonger them then perhaps things would be more civilised.

I can understand elderly people self isolating and stocking up on necessities.

I disagree a little, some think people are over reacting others think the government are not doing enough. On Saturday I used the tube and was surprised just how many people were reluctant to use the handrails on escalators (I include my self in this).
Not trying to scaremonger but this has the potential to be massive - I can't remember where I herd or read it but its said we are about 3 weeks behind what is happening in Italy. I think there are a lot more people with the virus who haven't been tested.

The issue that this is now bringing up, and I've been a victim of this is that people aren't holding on and are in turn flying around inside the carriages instead. I understand why you won't want to hold on but a broken leg or arm doesn't quite seem to be the trade off I'd like. The best solution is to carry hand sanitiser around and use it after leaving the tube or bus.

Worse being that even kids paracetamol (the liquid ones, from 3months onwards) are also out of stock - plain ridiculous ....0

It’s more than hand gel being hard to get hold off - many supermarkets are rationing toilet roll, cleaning products, pasta, rice & long life milk so clearly it’s more problematic - the hysteria is certainly beginning to get out of hand with unnecessary panic buying.

I used the tube at the weekend and made sure I had my gloves on as a precaution.

Please tell me when everyone's too scared of potential germs to use the tube, and I'll come and travel on it to my heart's content. It's normally much too crowded for me to use easily. When you hear of a positive test on a guy in his 70s who's fallen ill on the Central Line, and I haven't posted for a while, you'll know what happened! Mind you, my family's always said I'll get run down by a bus in the end. Trouble is finding one in the West End to run you down.
