Makes sense given the time frame, as reported that data only goes up to the 22nd February. The last few days probably had a more significant decrease in ridership on buses and trains. The million pound question is will we eventually see a temporary shutdown of all transport in London? [EDIT] Wont be in the immediate future it seems, read an article, Boris is sticking with the "take it on the chin" attitude! I'll go further - in about 2 weeks time, I suspect we'll see a lockdown similar to Italy where all travel is restricted barring special permission and the only places open being supermarkets & pharmacies. According to reports, the government are apparently considering doing one so we'll have to wait and see.

It's going to be interesting and I wonder if that dose happen will the Tube network be completely shut down or will it just be the section 12 area's I.e central London?

Don't want to make this thread too political but think Boris has handled the whole Coronavirus situation pretty badly! I was a Conservative voter. I was expecting a bit more from today's Cobra meeting - We can only kick the can so far down the road.

Can't see some people playing by the rules! I know what my part of London is like and people here will pretty much stick fingers up to any rules and go out.

He said earlier about many families losing loved ones before their time. He can't spell it out any clearer than that although some will accuse him of scaremongering.

The media have been scaremongering full stop that's why there is panic buying. I have seen various news outlets of people panic buying toilet roll like that's really going to help...NOT!!!

I guess you would also want a shutdown also every winter with the flu as that also kills thousands.

A Labour government wouldn't do much different. All well and good pointing the finger. The only exception would be if it were a Corbyn government, he would shut everything down including the hospitals.

As you have mentioned, if many people were not so stupid to be panic buying because of crap put out in the media, they put themselves more at risk and others to get the virus. Up to now I seriously do not understand why half the fools have been panic buying, worst people buying 200+ rolls of toilet paper.

TBH Cornyn would have kept the hospitals open if your a fan of him or not you would agree that he wouldn't close hospitals in a pandemic would you?

Tongue in check, as in he would be an overkill, clearly no way he would or anyone shut hospitals down

I guess you would also want a shutdown also every winter with the flu as that also kills thousands. I think we'd do well to state that whilst they share similar symptons, flu & coronavirus are not the same and comparisons are wrong. Flu is nowhere near as contagious and targets the old, young and people with health issues whereas coronavirus is super contagious and doesn't target the young - not a single child has been either killed or badly affected by the virus across the world. Flu can be dealt with fairly easy whereas there is no cure for coronavirus nor any effective treatments. A shutdown is inevitable whether people like it or not - as long as I'm paid during the shutdown from day 1, that's all I'm concerned about.

Be more frank & honest and release all the information relevant to the virus and it's effects and to make sure that 111 & NHS online does not give out false information like it has being.
