The Metrocities are all out on the W11! Stagecoach are really good at getting majority of their electrics on a route on its first day. They did this with the 86,276,339 and now W11. The 86, 276 & 339 had little or no electrics running on their first days - 86 was still, mostly at least, Enviro 400 operated, 276 was using a mix of different Enviro 200’s for a number of months & the 339 was still using the former DM’s and sole WM also for a few months. Go-Ahead have achieved it several times previously and Abellio did on the 306 & C3

The 86 and 276 weren’t quite like that obviously but they were rapid conversion when everything was in place

I’d agree, only two operators have actually managed day one of contract conversions not six month later when infrastructure is ready conversions. It’s not the same thing.

Go-Ahead have achieved it several times previously and Abellio did on the 306 & C3 I meant the day the electrics were introduced and the infrastructure. Not the first contract date. Metroline took long with the 204 and 384 when their electrics were first introduced. 251 not so much but wasn’t as quick as some of the Stagecoach routes. The infrastructure always takes long but when it’s actually finished they are very quick to replace the loaned/previous allocations.

Yeah it did though the infrastructure took time

My great surprise when one of these new buses came out of Walthamstow, so had to change plans and take it. Some drivers did have issues with setting the display including my bus which was driving around 'Not in Service' which confused many people.
My immediate questions are: - Is the capacity of this bus greater than the MMC? It does not help that the middle back seat is not there on new buses. - What is the length of this bus?
This is more in relation to what the W12 will get as from taking this bus and seeing the amendments made at Coppermill area, I think these buses will be tricky to get around and shorter ones may be needed which then defeats some of the purpose of making the amendments.

I understand you now so thanks for clarifying Personally, I don't take much from operators having a full EV run out once the infrastructure is ready because that happens in 99% of the cases with the examples you mention being more exceptions to the rule.

Yhose vehicles meant to be on Route W11 though? Have lost track. Correct but the W11 has just converted to EV operation literally overnight which is probably what OP is alluding to Presumably the W5 will convert like this in a week or two once they’re satisfied the infrastructure is working okay It does seem odd that route W11 has queue-jumped route W5 for electric buses though.

I think it was mentioned upthread that the W5 still has to move to AW and drivers still have to be trained on the Metrocities so it will take a little while before it is able to convert. On the other hand, route W11 is already based at AW so can be electrified more easily. HK is not yet electrified.

Spot on… plus it means that the current buses can be withdrawn from Ash a grove and not having to be transferred to AW
